F.W. de Klerk

Biography

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Frederik Willem de Klerk (born 18 March 1936), often known as F. W. de Klerk, was the seventh and last State President of apartheid-era South Africa, serving from September 1989 to May 1994. de Klerk was also leader of the National Party (which later became the New National Party) from February 1989 to September 1997. de Klerk is best known for engineering the end of apartheid, South Africa's racial segregation policy, and supporting the transformation of South Africa into a multi-racial democracy by entering into the negotiations that resulted in all citizens, including the country's black majority, having equal voting and other rights. He won Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize in 1991, Prince of Asturias Awards in 1992 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 along with Nelson Mandela for his role in the ending of apartheid. He was one of the Deputy Presidents of South Africa during the presidency of Nelson Mandela until 1996, the last white person to hold the position to date. In 1997, he retired from politics. Anna Finkel

Biography

Anna trained at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre in Canada, and completed her Masters in Dance Performance at Laban, in London UK. Anna began her professional career in Canada working with choreographers Sharon Moore, Susanna Hood, Kathleen Rea, Keaja d’Dance, Dancemakers and was a company member at Le Groupe Dance Lab under directors Peter Boneham and Tony Chong. Since 2007 Anna has been based in the UK, devising, performing and touring original works with Punchdrunk, Gecko, DV8, Handspring, Ace, Mad Dogs, Anthony Hamilton and Lost Dog with whom she co-devised It Needs Horses which was awarded The Bloomberg Place Prize for Dance in 2011. For Punchdrunk, Anna devised and played the role of Wendy in The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable for The National Theatre, followed by a year run playing Lady MacBeth in the New York City production Sleep No More. Anna has been delving into movement direction working with Louis Vuitton fashion, film director Alex Garland, and was based in China working as a rehearsal director for Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More Shanghai.

Katie Lusby

Biography

Katie trained at London Studio Centre and London Contemporary Dance School. She has worked with Richard Alston Dance Company, the Van Huynh Company and New Adventures (Swan Lake tour and film). Katie performed in David McVicar’s Aida at the Royal Opera House and later remounted the choreography (by Fin Walker) at Den Norske Opera & Ballett in Oslo. Katie has also worked with choreographers such as Aletta Collins, James Cousins, Sarah Dowling, Akram Khan (Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games), Wayne Parsons, Liam Steele and Didy Veldman. From 2013-14, Katie was in the original cast of Punchdrunk’s The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable, performing several different roles over the yearlong run. She joined Gecko in 2015 for The Time of Your Life. Katie has led open professional classes at The Place, TripSpace and ProDanceLeeds, as well as company classes for Scottish Dance Theatre, Punchdrunk, Jorge Crecis/SQx and New Adventures. Katie has also taught at London Studio Centre, London Contemporary Dance School, Central School of Ballet, Doreen Bird College and University of East London. She was an Associate Lecturer in Choreography at London Studio Centre from 2014-15 and often acts as an external examiner for LCDS. Katie completed her MA in 2014.

Ryen Perkins-Gangnes

Biography

Ryen has been working with Gecko since January 2012 helping to devise Missing, Institute and The Wedding, and touring all three productions internationally. He also appeared in The Time of Your Life live on BBC4 in November 2015. He was a cast member in Paramount’s 2013 film World War Z, and worked closely with Oscar award winner Andy Jones and choreographer Alex Reynolds to create the movement language for the zombies in the film as movement specialist. He worked with the Cholmondeleys and the Featherstonehaughs from 2003, and spent 2 years as Lea Anderson’s assistant. He has performed with numerous other companies and choreographers over the years, such as Gary Clarke, Frauke Requardt, and Fabulous Beast. He studied theatre at UC Davis, California and received 5 years compilation martial arts training under the tutelage of Grandmaster Suk Ku Kim.

Sean Connery

Biography

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer who won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. Eugene Lipinski

Biography

Eugene Lipinski is a British actor and screenwriter. He was born in Wansford Camp, Cambridgeshire and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He began acting at the age of twelve in amateur theater. After graduating from the University of Regina, he returned to the UK and attended the Royal Academy of Arts as well as the Drama Studio London. He is well-known TV series such as Animorphs as Visser Three, Fringe as December and Da Vinci's City Hall and Da Vinci's Inquest as Lloyd Manning. As the screenwriter, in 1991, he won Genie Awards for Best Screenplay in the 12th Genie Awards on Perfectly Normal.

Biography

François started his career as a dancer training at Mudra the Maurice Béjart School of Performing Arts. He then joined the legendary Lindsay Kemp Company, soon becoming one of its principal members and remains one of his collaborators to this day. He has collaborated with many diverse companies such as Ballet Rambert, Rose English, Simon Vincenzi, DV8 Physical Theatre, Punchdrunk and many more. He also sings with Medieval Polyphony ensemble Graindelavoix, Electro Group Coil, Laniakea. For Gecko, François has performed in and helped create The Overcoat, Missing and Institute.

Nurhan Nur

Biography

Nurhan Nur, born Ulviye Nur Gençsüer, (14 May 1930 - 26 March 2017), was a Turkish actress. In the 1950 film Parmaksız Salih, Nurhan Nur started her acting career; she acted in Bu Vatanın Çocukları, Düşman Yolları Kesti, Yılanların Öcü, Bozuk Düzen, Son Kuşlar, Kanun Benim, Yaprak Dökümü, Fırat'nin Cinleri, Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım, Maden and in the second version of Susuz Yazın. Actress Nurhan Nur, who starred with Fikret Hakan in the 1962 film Yılanların Öcü and appeared in such acclaimed productions as Selvi Boylum, Al Yazmalım and Maden, died on March 26, 2017 in Istanbul at the age of 86 and was buried in Karacaahmet Cemetery.

Tau Maserumule

Biography

Tau Maserumule is a graduate from the Market Laboratory who has been involved in training programs with Newtown Film School, Stockholm Stadsteater and a cultural exchange with the University of Lulea. His Theatre work includes his one man show Circle, a self written and performed show that was nominated for a Naledi Theatre Award in 2012 and won him a Standard Bank Ovation Award in the same year. Some of his theatre work includes The Man in the Green Jacket and also cowriting and performing in Strategy of Grey.
