Martinho da Vila

Biography

Martinho da Vila (born February 12, 1938) is a Brazilian singer and composer who is considered to be one of the main representatives of samba and MPB. He is a prolific songwriter, with hundreds of recorded songs across over 40 solo albums. He also has many songs that were recorded by singers from different musical genres. Internationally celebrated artists such as Nana Mouskouri (Greece), Ornella Vanoni (Italy), Katia Guerreiro (Portugal), Rosario Flores (Spain) have put their voices to Martinho’s songs and lyrics. As a singer, he is considered by critics as one of the top exponents of samba to have ever lived. Among his many national collaborations, a few notable names are Zeca Pagodinho, Arlindo Cruz, Chico Buarque, Beth Carvalho, Noel Rosa, Alcione, among others. Furthermore, Martinho composed some of the most important samba enredos (samba school themed songs) and has forged a solid partnership with the Vila Isabel samba school. In spite of being a self-taught singer / songwriter with no academic background, Martinho has a great connection with classical music. He participated in the symphonic project "Samba Classics" under the baton of the late Maestro Silvio Barbato, which went on to be performed by several classical orchestras such as the Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, and Espirito Santo Orchestras, as well as the Orquestra Petrobras and the Orfeônica of Denmark. He also devised, in partnership with Maestro Bruno Leonardo, the Black Concert, a Symphonic performance that focuses on the participation of black musicians in classical music. In addition to being a celebrated singer and songwriter, Martinho is also a writer and author of 13 books: Notable works include Os Lusófonos, republished in Portugal, as well as Joanna and Joanes - A Fluminense Romance, and Ópera Negra, which was later translated into French. At the Book Fair in Paris in 2015, Martinho released his novel Os Lusófonos. As a journalist, Martinho writes articles for O Globo, Folha de São Paulo and O Estadão newspapers, several magazines, and, for two years, he was a weekly columnist of the newspaper O Dia. He is also politically active and a prominent figure and spokesperson for Afro-Brazilian issues as well as for the Communist Party of Brazil. He is the author of six books, and has been a recording artist since 1969. Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer who won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. Mary Anthony

Biography

Originally from Oklahoma, LA-based actor Mary Anthony graduated with a B.F.A. in Acting from the University of Oklahoma. While in school, she was selected to compete in the American College Theater Festival two years in a row and was an Irene Ryan Acting nominee both years. She was also selected to study at the Terry Schreiber Studio (NYC) in their On Camera Intensive. Additionally, she wrote and directed the short film, VENDING MACHINE, which was selected for the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival as well as Redbud Film Festival and Deadcenter Film Festival. Once she relocated to LA, she started studying at Upright Citizens Brigade and Playhouse West. She played Amy in the West Coast Premiere of TAPE at the Playhouse West theater. She performs weekly on the UCB house Harold team, LEROY. Additionally, her all female indie team, FASHION SHOW AT LUNCH, has hosted shows at UCB and performed at San Francisco Sketch Fest and the LA Indie Improv Festival. Her indie team, SWIMMING LESSONS, has performed at the Del Close Marathon (NYC) and the LA Indie Improv Festival and can be seen hosting their show COMMUNITY POOL at the Clubhouse Mainstage and UCB's inner sanctum stage. She's also been featured on the podcasts "I'm Too Effing High", "The Meat", and "Extra,Extra".

Dennis Gassner (born October 22, 1948) is a Canadian production designer. He is notable for his work on Bugsy, Road to Perdition, Big Fish, Blade Runner 2049, and 1917, as well the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th movies in the James Bond franchise, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. He has been nominated seven times for the Academy Award for Best Production Design and has won once. Gassner was nominated for the Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design for a Contemporary Film for his work on Quantum of Solace and won for his work on Skyfall.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Kate Levering (born January 1, 1979) is an American actress and dancer. She was born in Sacramento, California. Levering attended El Camino Fundamental High School, where she took part in school musicals and dance classes before graduating in 1997 and leaving for New York City to pursue a career on Broadway. In 2001 she was cast as Peggy Sawyer in the revival of 42nd Street. She was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical category and won the Fred Astaire Award for Best Female Dancer for her tap dancing in the show. She only performed the role on Broadway for a short three-month period, and is featured on the cast album, but is not taped for Lincoln Center Archives. Levering left 42nd Street to star in the catastophic Broadway flop Thou Shalt Not, composed by Harry Connick, Jr., and choreographed by Susan Stroman. There is no cast recording of this show. ​From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.   Dito Montiel, born as Orlandito Montiel, (July 26, 1965) is an American author, screenwriter, director and musician. Born in New York City, he came into the public eye after the breakup of his hardcore punk band Major Conflict. Later, Montiel would gain notoriety in 1989 when Geffen Records signed his newly formed outfit Gutterboy to a $1 million record deal – an unheard of sum at the time. The band was dropped after its debut and was dubbed one of the most "successful" unsuccessful bands in rock history. In 2003, Montiel published A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, a memoir detailing his life growing up in Astoria, Queens in the early 1980s during the rise of the hardcore punk scene. The book describes his time spent touring with his band Gutterboy and his brief modeling career with Versace along with other personal anecdotes. After adapting his best-selling book into a screenplay, Montiel made his directorial debut with the film version of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, with Robert Downey Jr. (as the older Montiel), Dianne Wiest and Shia LaBeouf. The film was executive produced by Trudie Styler. Montiel released the self-titled album Dito Montiel in 2006 through Rhino Records. His second novel Eddie Krumble Is the Clapper was published in April 2007. Montiel also directed a film, Fighting, about a young street hawker in New York City who is introduced to the world of underground street fighting. The film stars Channing Tatum, Terrence Howard and Luis Guzmán. In 2011, Montiel's police drama The Son of No One, featuring Channing Tatum, Ray Liotta, Al Pacino and Katie Holmes played at the Sundance Film Festival. Gilles De Schryver (December 12, 1984) is a Belgian film, TV and theater actor, writer and producer. Graduated in 2009 as a master in drama at the Hogeschool Gent Conservatorium. Is perfectly bilingual (Dutch and French). He played in French-language productions for the Théâtre National and the Royal Mint Theater. The Schryver was until 2016 together with Yahya Terryn artistic director of the Ghent theater company 'the KIP', for which he played, wrote and directed. In the KIP productions he was shown inside and outside Europe in Dutch, English and French. Since the reopening of the KIP in 2017, De Schryver is once again a freelance theater maker and player. He also writes and produces film and television through his production house De Wereldvrede, which he runs with director Gilles Coulier. Born Bénédicte Gélin, the daughter of actor Daniel Gélin, she started her acting career at an early age and made her breakthrough in cinema with the role Inspector Sabine Clément in the 1985 José Pinheiro film Parole de flic starring Alain Delon. Giannis Bezos

Ioannis "Giannis" Bezos (Greek: Ιωάννης (Γιάννης) Μπέζος; born 10 September 1956 in Athens) is a Greek actor and director, widely considered one of the best Greek comedic actors of all time, performing on TV and in the theatre. He has also acted in five films. The person who discovered Bezos first was Thymios Karakatsanis, at a performance at Smaroula theatre. Initially, he worked with Aliki Vougiouklaki on stage. He went on to have a number of TV hits: Oi Aparadektoi (1991–92, 1992–93), Tis Ellados ta Paidia (1993–95), Ekeines Kai Ego (1996-98), Flower-spread Life (1998–99), Akros oikogeneiakon (2001-3), Eftyhismenoi Mazi (2007–10), My Daughter's Marriage (2010) and Clinical Case (2011). In many of the TV series in which he starred and stars, he has cooperated with the director Andreas Morfonios, with whom he has a close friendship, while some of these are directed by Bezos himself. Also, he starred in various theatrical performances in the 1980s including Frogs and Lysistrata. In March 2009, the theatrical hit La Cage Aux Folles, a Jean Poiret French musical, starring Bezos, made its premiere at Pallas theatre, with direction by Stamatis Fasoulis. Bezos is also famous for his singing, which he often demonstrates while performing. Since 1987, he has been married to actress Natalia Tsaliki, who has featured alongside Bezos many times on TV and stage. They have a daughter, Iro Bezou (1988). In April 2016, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation announced Bezos would host a new television series, "Speaking of Theatre" («Μιλώντας για θέατρο»), on ERT2, Bezos's first TV hosting role for some time.
