Biography

Scottish singer-songwriter Eddi Reader MBE was born Sadenia Reader on 29th August, 1959 in Glasgow, the eldest of seven children. Starting out as a busker on Sauchiehall Street, she became a backing singer and session vocalist for Annie Lennox, Alison Moyet, Billy MacKenzie and The Waterboys, before forming Fairground Attraction and scoring a big hit with 1988's Perfect. Following the band's split, Eddi went on to build an enduring solo career that has taken in genres such as pop, folk and country. She has also acted in John Byrne's Your Cheatin' Heart, Janice Galloway's The Trick Is to Keep Breathing on both the radio and in the theatre, and presented the Glasgow based music programme No Stilettos. She is a passionate supporter of Scottish independence.

Sean Connery

Biography

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer who won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. Pat Laffan

Biography

Pat Laffan was an Irish actor best known for his roles as Georgie Burgess in The Snapper and the milkman Pat Mustard in the Father Ted episode Speed 3. Laffan grew up on a farm in Co. Meath and began his career as an actor after graduating from Engineering in UCD. A prolific theatre actor, Laffan was a member of the Abbey Theatre Company in the 1960s and 1970s, and was the Director of the Peacock Theatre for most of the 1970s. He directed in the Gate Theatre from 1979 to 1982. Laffan had around 40 film credits to his name - including turns in Steven Spielberg's War Horse (2011), Intermission (2003), The General (1998) and Leap Year (2010) - and 30 credits on TV, Moone Boy, EastEnders and Ripper Street, to name a few. He died on March 14th, 2019 at the age of 79.

Ivan F. Simpson

Biography

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Ivan F. Simpson (8 February 1875 – 12 October 1951) was a Scottish film and stage actor. Ivan Simpson was born in Scotland and went as a young man to New York City, where he worked for four decades on Broadway from 1906 until his death. In 1915 he started his film silent career and starred in notable silent films like The Green Goddess from 1923, where he played the role of Mister Watkins. He also replied in this role seven years later in the sound film version of The Green Goddess. In 1929 he portrayed Hugh Myers in Disraeli, where he played along his close friend George Arliss. Arliss and Simpson appeared together in a total of nine films. Especially in the 1930s, Simpson was a successful character actor in supporting and bit parts and appeared in many classics. He often played servants, like in MGM's literature adaption David Copperfield as Littimer and the horror movie Mark of the Vampire. He also portrayed priests like in Little Lord Fauntleroy and Random Harvest, judges like in This Land Is Mine or doctors like in They All Kissed the Bride. Simpson was also a frequent actor in the Errol Flynn movies, he appeared in The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Prince and the Pauper and Captain Blood. Ivan F. Simpson starred in over 100 Hollywood films, his last was My Girl Tisa from 1948. He died three years later at the age of 76 years and was buried in Kensico Cemetery. His daughter was actress Pamela Simpson (1905-2002).

Estes was born and raised in Los Angeles (Jefferson Park/Crenshaw district) and attended college at CSU, Cal Maritime Academy in Vallejo, CA and post-graduate work at the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business. Éva "Vica" Kerekes (born 28 March 1981) is a Slovakian actress. She is active in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. She is often referred and credited as Vica Kerekésová, Vica Kerekešová, and Kerekes Vica. Vica Kerekes was born to an ethnic Hungarian mother and a father of Hungarian and Slovak descent. After studying at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, she moved to Budapest in 2001 where she met her eventual husband, artist Csaba Vigh. She made her cinematic debut in 2004 with the Slovak film Konečná stanica. To the international audience, Kerekes is foremost known for the 2011 film Men in Hope.
