In World War II Germany, two young men, one, an ardent Nazi, and the other, a secret anti-Nazi, are in love with the same woman, the daughter of a wealthy banker. The two join the Army, and the young woman becomes a nightclub singer. Eventually she joins the Army too, to entertain the troops, but circumstances soon result in her entire world being changed.

In a future society where water is a precious resource, a savage gang murders a young girl's family. She is taken in by a man named Trooper, who teaches her how to fight, kill and survive. When she gets old enough to fend for herself, she sets out in search of the gang that killed her family.

A man hands parcels over personally around the world. Berlin, London, Barcelona, Reykjavik, New York City. His life is about hotel rooms, planes, cabs, airports, delivery places. There's a problem with a parcel in New York City. He has to wait.

Two narrators, one seen and one unseen, discuss possible connections between a series of paintings. The on-screen narrator walks through three-dimensional reproductions of each painting, featuring real people, sometimes moving, in an effort to explain the series' significance.

A priest secretly leads rebels in their struggle against the corrupt military dictatorship of the Central American country of Puerto Santo.
