Once the Spanish Civil War is over, the sons of the wealthy classes, who support politically and militarily the new regime, are preparing to begin their ascent in the social and economic sphere.

Spain, late 19th century. Judge Javier Zarco finds in a cemetery a skull pierced by a nail and suspects that a murder has been committed. When he investigates the case in depth, his suspicions fall on the woman who was going to marry the deceased.

In a country house of Galicia (Spain), Teresa and Fernando, beset by their economic situation, rent rooms to Mr. Morell and his niece Lina, who are looking for a quiet place to rest.
