While committing a prank, a child accidentally discovers the identity of the criminal who keeps the whole neighborhood on alert. For fear of being punished, he does not tell what he knows to his father, a police officer.

Many years ago, a young aristocrat wanted to marry a famous singer, but his father destroyed the marriage before twediing, believing that singer is not suitable wife for future diplomat. After several years their adult children now met in the theater of Buenos Aires.

The film is, in essence, a melodrama filled with jealousy and betrayal, but it also showcases some original elements that no other cinematography would have dared to suggest in 1929, like the possibility of a romance between an Indian and a white woman (with her taking the first step).

While studying at a Catholic boarding school, the young Luisa meets a boy, Julio, who talks to her from the street and through the gate. However, the girl's arrogant older brother removes her from the establishment and takes her to live in her family house. The beginning of love between Luisa and Julio is made even more difficult by what seems to be the beginning of a disease in her.
