This is the independent film history of Pink Floyd. The controversial twists and turns of the Floyd story is told in a unique series of interviews featuring Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and the late Richard Wright. The recollections of the band are compared and contrasted the views of the insiders who worked with Pink Floyd in the studio and on the road.

On an overcast day late in the summer of 1966, Syd first tripped on mushrooms while film student/friend Nigel Gordon captured the event on 8mm film. This marked a major turning in Syd's life; The man that entered the Gog Magog hills that day would not be the same entity that returned.

This film features extended archive footage alongside original interviews with David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason, and traces the journey of a band that has only ever had five members, three of whom have lead the band at different stages of its evolution. Documentary broadcast by the BBC on 15 November 1994, produced at the time of "The Division Bell" tour. Although Roger Waters declined to grant an interview in this programme, the post-Waters era is only briefly mentioned (during the last 2 minutes). The rest is focused on the band's history with Waters. The documentary not only features interviews with all three members of Pink Floyd at the time, but also includes interesting interviews with several people closely related to the band: Andrew King, Joe Boyd, Mike Leonard, Storm Thorgerson, Ron Geesin, Clare Torry , Douglas Adams, and others. It also contains rare archive footage, such as extracts from 1968's "Tomorrow's World" programme and a very original film showing the band recording for the song "Marooned" in David Gilmour's studio-boat, the Astoria, with Bob Ezrin playing bass in this session.

An era often overshadowed this documentary covers each time period and album of the band from 1965-1985 as well as an inside look at rare interviews and footage.

The story of the underground movement during the 60s leading up to its culmination at The 14 Hour Technicolor Dream, a "musical happening" at Alexandra Palace on April 29 1967.

About the London counter-culture scene in 1967, includes early live footage of Pink Floyd playing "Interstellar Overdrive" at the UFO club on 27th January 1967, "Percy the Ratcatcher" can also be heard.

Peter Whitehead’s disjointed Swinging London documentary, subtitled “A Pop Concerto,” comprises a number of different “movements,” each depicting a different theme underscored by music: A early version of Pink Floyd’s “Interstellar Overdrive” plays behind some arty nightclub scenes, while Chris Farlowe’s rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “Out of Time” accompanies a young woman’s description of London nightlife and the vacuousness of her own existence. In another segment, the Marquess of Kensington (Robert Wace) croons the nostalgic “Changing of the Guard” to shots of Buckingham Palace’s changing of the guard, and recording act Vashti are seen at work in the studio. Sandwiched between are clips of Mick Jagger (discussing revolution), Andrew Loog Oldham (discussing his future) – and Julie Christie, Michael Caine, Lee Marvin, and novelist Edna O’Brien (each discussing sex). The best part is footage of the riot that interrupted the Stones’ 1966 Royal Albert Hall concert.
