A tragical-comedy film story that follows a young non-combatant platoon with defective fitness. Set in "Bahad 4" in the 50's, the movie focuses mainly on two characters: Alon (Oz Zehavi), who believes he was accidentally sent to Bahad 4 and will soon be sent to join the Paratroopers. Avner (Guy Adler), believes that the army is the last thing that interests him.

After serving 17 years in prison for a murder conviction, Asa Katz receives an early release on the condition that he continues to cooperate with the police as their jailhouse informant. Asa returns to his old neighborhood and to his older brother, David, a successful realtor who made his money in dubious business dealings. The well-to-do Tsipis family arrives in fervent and devout Jerusalem at the close of the 19th century, driven by the father's passionate Zionist vision. Secretly planning to return to Odessa and join her revolutionary lover, Pima. Fruma faces suspicion from her parents, who decide to send her to work at Eliezer Ben Yehuda's Hebrew newspaper, hoping he will inspire her with his mission to revive the Hebrew language. Initially cynical, Fruma finds herself inexplicably drawn to Eliezer. Their encounter forces Fruma to confront the consequences of her ideals, realizing the inadvertent harm caused to others due to their circumstances.
