In Hong Kong, an elite gang of robbers - regarded as somewhat of a crime dream team - is formed, each member selected for their previous well-planned, swift, and successful operations. Three of its members plot to get rid of the leader, dissatisfied that his share of the loot seems disproportionate. The dismembered body of a hooker is found, and police arrest her pimp and his crew for the crime. During interrogation, they explain how the girl stole from her pimp, and so they group kidnapped, raped, tortured, and finally murdered and dismembered her.

The story is set during a time where the Tang Dynasty was at war with her neighbour. Lei Fa is the daughter of a respected Sai Leung general. Her martial art master, the Holy Mother of Lei Mountain, tells her that she is destined to marry a Tang citizen (who turns out to be Sit Ding San) and their marriage will unite the two kingdoms and bring about a time of peace and harmony. Unfortunately for her, her destined husband turns out to be Sit Ding San. His father is Sit Yan Kwai, a renowned and loyal general of the Tang Dynasty. Through many endeavours to prove his painting skills, Ban Kiu became a celebrated painter and expert in drawing bamboos (in which is a shared interest with the emperor, who went in search for the best bamboo painting to be buried with him when he passes away). Ban Kiu was also famous for his quote, "Ignorance is Bliss", which in the end can ironically cause him many troubles.

Armed Reaction is a 1998 Hong Kong modern cop drama produced by TVB. The drama stars Bobby Au-yeung and Esther Kwan as the main leads with Joyce Tang, Marco Ngai, Mimi Chu and Joe Ma in main supporting roles.
