Anand Math is a 1952 Hindi patriotic-historical film directed by Hemen Gupta, based on Anandamath, the famous Bengali novel written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1882. The novel and film are set in the events of the Sannyasi Rebellion, which took place in the late 18th century in eastern India, especially Bengal.

Thakur ( is a proud and dignified man with an only daughter, Chanda who is of marriageable age. His wife and he receive a suitable proposal from the house of a lawyer and his wife. Classic celebration of Mithila's King Shiva Singha's (Bannerjee/Kapoor) love for his wife while chronicling the influence of the pacifist court poet Bidyapati (Sanyal).
