The story takes place in a small village manor-house off Vásárosladány. Sándor leads a quiet life with his wife, son and the now poor relatives of his wife, one which is characterized by the monotony of rural boredom. The arrival of another poor relative, Kitty, a young girl brought up in America, whose way of thinking reflects modern times, puts an end to this overwhelming monotony.

Two old women who happen to be pickpockets stole money from Simon, the taxi driver. The police are unable to find the thieves, so Simon decides to find them himself.

An aspiring author and the daughter of a wealthy businessman want to get married. The father of the bride agrees on one condition: his potential son-in-law's upcoming romance novel must prove to be a financial success. In order to win the bet, both men come up with their very own schemes to manipulate the book's sales numbers.

The heroes of this crime-comedy attempt to get hold of money by a funny trick. They start operating the new post-office of the housing estate a week before the official opening, pocketing the revenue themselves. The inhabitants of the estate do not understand the trick, and loads of money pour to the swindlers.

During the rising of nazism, Sylvia, a rich but sterile woman, needs an heir to inherit her father's money. So she bribes Irene, a Jewish girl, to have a child by her husband.

Struggling artist Feri falls in love with boarding school student Vera. In order for them to be able to meet, Feri's bumbling friend Poznay poses as Vera's uncle and picks her up from school once a week. When Vera's father unexpectedly shows up at the school, the young romance is in danger.

When Françoise introduced her fiancé to her parents, she had no idea that, during this family weekend, drama would enter this sumptuous estate, set up by her father for his second wife, the troubling Irène; so troubling, in fact, that she immediately set about conquering her daughter-in-law's fiancé... This doesn't faze her husband, Paul Brémont, the famous builder of Télébremont television sets, who is busy with his business and, above all, with the charms of his secretary. But it does seem to worry the house gardener, who is more than a little attached to his seductive boss (which makes Rose, the cook, sick with jealousy).

Four Star Playhouse is an American television anthology series that ran from 1952 to 1956, sponsored in its first bi-weekly season by The Singer Company; Bristol-Myers became an alternate sponsor when it became a weekly series in the fall of 1953. The original premise was that Charles Boyer, Ida Lupino, David Niven, and Dick Powell would take turns starring in episodes. However, several other performers took the lead from time to time, including Ronald Colman and Joan Fontaine. Blake Edwards was among the writers and directors who contributed to the series. Edwards created the recurring character of illegal gambling house operator Willie Dante for Dick Powell to play on this series. The character was later revamped and spun off in his own series starring Howard Duff, then-husband of Lupino. The pilot for Meet McGraw, starring Frank Lovejoy, aired here, as did another episode in which Lovejoy recreated his role of Chicago newspaper reporter Randy Stone, from the radio drama Nightbeat.
