This Georgian drama seeks to renew and reinforce a sense of cultural and national identity as it examines a tragic event in the idyllic life of an aristocratic Georgian family. Much of the film focuses upon their happy and peaceful life of this family comprised of a young couple and their baby daughter Keto. Their life changes when two drifters come in. They cause lots of trouble for the local rich thus winning the hearts and minds of poor people. Nevertheless, when captain Akhvlediani opens the hunting season on two renowned outlaws he finds a much-needed man who is ready to show him their whereabouts.

At the end of the 17th century, Georgia, weakened by war with foreign enemies and internal feudal disorder, came under the influence of Iran. Georgian kings had to fight under the Iranian flag. A similar fate befell King George XI. He was forced to spend most of his life in Afghanistan and Baluchistan to quell the revolts against Iran.

Georgian village during the revolution of 1905. The struggle of the peasantry against the landlords. Tariel Golua's son, Levan, leads the rebellion. Tariel himself is in favor of a peaceful solution to the conflict, but when his son is brutally killed, and the houses of the rebels and their supporters are set on fire, Tariel is convinced that it is impossible to gain freedom without an armed struggle.

Zaza Nakashidze is imprisoned for a murder he never committed. While in jail he tries to prove his innocence and with other prisoners, real murderers and thieves, dreams of freedom.

The way home for Aleksandr Rekhviashvili is not charted in the conventional sense. It takes the viewer along some peculiar roads and across a unique landscape: Georgian history and legend, politics and social stratification, religion and ethics. Allusive, stylized and allegorical from beginning to end, his long-banned The Way Home is in part a tribute to Rekhviashvili’s favorite director, Pasolini, especially to The Hawks and the Sparrows (1966). Together with the short film Nutsa (1971) and the widely acclaimed Georgian Chronicle of the 19th Century (1979; SFIFF 1983), The Way Home closes a triptych of films that represent Rekhviashvili’s poetic contemplation of Georgia’s past. It makes extensive use of poems by Bella Akhmadulina (the major female poet of the cultural ‘thaw’ of the ’50s and ’60s and a Georgian by descent), and of sets by Amir Kakabadze. It is set during the 11th century and tells of the reign of King George I. He is at war with Byzantine Empire ruled by Basil II. Apart from ongoing war, he has to fight rebellious Georgian tribes. Problems occur when King George falls in love with Shorena. For her, the King is willing to go against the church. The story is based on famous novel by Konstantine Gamsakhrudia.

The story is based on Konstantine Gamsakhurdia's novel and depicts the social and political changes taking place in Soviet Georgia in the 1930s through the line of the main characters: Tarash Emkhvari and Arzakan Zvambaya.

A popular actor, Alonso plays the role of a noble knight on stage, but in real life, in the face of hooligans, he turns out to be a coward.

The children have decided to discover the sunken city. The children are helped in their search by the gardener Ermile, who has a number of things and paintings in his house that confirm the existence of the sunken city, removed from the bottom of the sea.
