Two young men are training for a rowing race on the Tiber. One of them, "Marco" is distracted by a new found love.

The plot concerns a songwriter, played by Jacques Sernas who leaves his sweetheart and publisher when he learns that he is going blind.

A cabaret singer, now a widow, is dethroned and expelled downstairs by a fiery rival.
