Chiwawa is a popular girl. One day, her dismembered body is found in Tokyo Bay. Chiwawa's friends gather to remember her, but they realize they do not know anything about her background or even her real name.

1930s Korea, in the period of Japanese occupation, a new girl, Sookee, is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress, Hideko, who lives a secluded life on a large countryside estate with her domineering Uncle Kouzuki. But the maid has a secret. She is a pickpocket recruited by a swindler posing as a Japanese Count to help him seduce the Lady to steal her fortune.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Japan was under a policy of national isolation. A group of Dutch scholars who wanted to open the country secretly completed a copy of a map of Japan under shogunate control. They sent a young Dutch scholar, Michi-an, as a secret envoy to deliver the copy of the map to the Dutch. Michi-an, hiding himself and making his way through the deserted winter mountains, but the mountain guardians, led by Takayama, had begun hunting in the mountains with a description of Michi-an's appearance arranged by the shogunate.

In the plant, Yanais takes down the Christmas decorations and replaces them with the ones for New Year. Gou, addicted to survival games, comes to the plant during the night and starts playing video games with Ken, even if it is his day off. In the meantime, Adachi is just watching their game to kill time. However, all these men share similar problems: pregnancy, adultery, family issues and a friend who died in the war. Meanwhile, Tani, who is troubled with her immoral relationship with Adachi, begins to feel that her father, who was the plant’s manager and is supposed to be dead, seems to be around somehow.

The story centers on Yoshio, a poor and struggling manga artist who lives in Kitamachi. He is sent by Oyaji, the landlord of his apartment who is also engaged in other shady businesses, to help a novelist called Imori move in, and meets a recently-divorced woman named Fukuko. Yoshio is immediately bewitched by her beauty, even though she is already seeing someone else. In the meantime, Imori establishes an advertising agency, borrowing the name of a larger agency from the wealthier Minamicho, in order to sell his novel. Yoshio ends up helping with Imori's efforts, and somehow Imori and Fukuko come to live together with Yoshio.

Unlike Satoshi, who works for a company, Yoshio has no money, so it is all he can do to show his face. Yoshio and Maki's fake married life begins.

Doughnuts MORI is a small doughnut store in Kagurazaka, Tokyo. The main character, Kimiko, works part-time at the donut shop in addition to her job as an illustrator. The customers who visit the store are all eccentric people. Kimiko's curiosity leads her to meddle in their lives, helping them and being reminded of them. Through her interactions with them, Kimiko comes to face herself.

Why did she die? The Supreme Court first sentenced her to death, but then commuted her sentence to life imprisonment and sent her to Tochigi Women's Prison. What happened before she took her own life there? Based on her tanka poems, which convey her raw voice, the film explores her lone fight during the 121 days between her death sentence and suicide, a period that has remained obscure to date.

Ko Shibasaki will star in "Ani wo mochihakoberu saizu ni," a film directed by Nakano Ryota of "Hot Water's Love," his first in five years. She plays a younger sister who struggles with the sudden death of her good-for-nothing older brother, played by Joe Odagiri Joe, together with his ex-wife, played by Hikari Mitsushima.
