The troubled story of the Churruca family, a noble lineage of brave seamen, descendants of Cosme Damián Churruca, the Spanish hero of the Battle of Trafalgar; from the Spanish-American War (1898) to the end of the Spanish Civil War (1936-39). (In 1950, a new cut of the film was released with less ideological depth and ten minutes shorter.)

On the hacienda of El Soto lives Doña Raimunda and her daughter Acacia as well. After being widowed, Raimunda married Esteban, who is secretly in love with Acacia and her, in turn, feels a deep rejection of him. Meanwhile, some young are courting Acacia. Pachín

A police inspector makes his service in a patrol car attenging emergency calls. A memory hauns him, the death of her daughter, who was killed hit by a car that fled. The car is located and the inspector goes there and confrontation will be violent.
