On the road she meets a funny man in a bowler hat and vest, who is trying to start his old car with a sledgehammer. Masha decided to become a fellow traveler of the mysterious mustachioed character.

For eight years she was his wife, lover, nurse, but he escaped to Brooklyn with her best friend. The case rescues heroine from suicide and she meets someone who is also in mortal danger. New fears and sudden passion revive her hopes.

One sunny day the owner of a successful veterinary clinic Nikita learns that the terminally ill.
