When a young woman falls in love with a gown in a shop window it leads to adventure and romance exceeding even her own vivid imagination.

At the Næsbygaard estate, the old landowner misses his grandson Martin, who is on a cattle farm in Texas learning about agriculture. The estate's shooter is ill, so the stud master has to take care of his job as well. This comes at a time when he is training hard for the gallop race for the King's honorary prize. To help lift their spirits, they are visited by some children from Copenhagen who are on vacation. When serious problems arise involving poaching on the estate's land, the children help to solve the case. The stud farm manager is injured, and it looks as if the estate's horse will not be able to participate in the big gallop race. But luckily, young Martin returns home from Texas just in time....

The beginning of the 20th century. The main character is the young, charming Count Pierre de Sauterne. There have been several conflicts between him and his aristocratic uncle, who, due to his fanatical interest in cars, is called Tøf-Tøf. Uncle Tøf-Tøf decides that Pierre must spend his summer vacation in a secluded family villa on the North Sea coast as punishment, but not long into his stay, two charming girls seek shelter from a thunderstorm.

In many, many cases, you can also be cured and leave the hospital or sanatorium with a certificate stating that you are free of infection and that, provided you attend your check-ups, you pose no danger to other people. This is what happens to Bente, a young office worker.

Johannes is a shy and inexperienced young student at the music conservatory. He is a Mozart admirer and in love with his fellow student Elisabeth, who also seems interested in him. The smart and modern Herbert, called Pop, has dropped out of the conservatory and lives as a jazz musician and womanizer. He bets Johannes that he can sleep with Elisabeth before 8 p.m. that same day, since all girls are the same. He wins the bet, while Johannes consoles himself with Solvei, the girl who lives downstairs and works in a grocery store. In the end, Johannes and Elisabeth meet on the stairs. Can they still find each other?
