The comparison to these shows led many critics to describe the show as unoriginal. The women share a passion for Oprah. On November 29, 2005, ABC announced that the show would not be extended more than 13 episodes, which is usually a sign of impending cancellation. The series finale aired on Friday, December 30, 2005.

Almost Perfect is an American situation comedy that aired on the CBS television network from September 17, 1995 until October 30, 1996. CBS canceled the series just four episodes into its second season. Six leftover episodes aired on Lifetime in December 1997, followed by reruns of the entire series surfacing on USA Network's weekday morning lineup between 1998 and 2001.

Oh, Grow Up is a sitcom that aired on ABC from September to December 1999.
