Joshua “J” is taken in by his extended family after his mother dies of an overdose. The Wedge was an Australian sketch show created by Ian McFadyen and produced by Network Ten. The show's two seasons starred Dailan Evans, Adam Zwar, Jason Gann, Rebel Wilson, Kate Jenkinson, Katrina Mathers, Anthony Ahern and Julie Eckersley, with appearances from Julia Zemiro, Ross Daniels, Marney McQueen, Aidan Fennessy, Cori Hopper and Frieda McKenna. The main ensemble cast was joined in series two by Damian Callinan and Cal Wilson. It ran for two seasons, airing 2006 and 2007 and averaged a million viewers per episode through most of the first series. A spin-off mockumentary titled Marks Loves Sharon featuring one of the show's characters, Mark Wary (Jason Gann), was produced by Network Ten and premiered in June 2008.

Lowdown shines a torch on the life of a man whose job it is to feed the public's insatiable appetite for celebrity gossip. Alex Burchill, the author of the Lowdown column which appears in the once great but now ailing tabloid newspaper – the Sunday Sun. Each week Alex interviews celebrities for his column, and each week at least one of those celebrities ruins his week. Sometimes the celebrity gets drunk and punches Alex out. Sometimes the celebrity gets him arrested. Usually the celebrity sleeps with his girlfriend, Rita. It may not sound like much of a life, but it invariably leads to great copy and the readers love it. In fact, it's the only thing standing between the Sunday Sun and oblivion.
