The white-hot Four Horsemen were storming through Jim Crockett Promotions as 1987 began. Fans came out by the tens of thousands to see them hopefully get their comeuppance. They were hated, and loved for being hated. But no one knew that an implosion to that original Horsemen line-up was coming. Heck, who thought Ole would ever be cheered?! But as good as business was, subtle shifts began to signal potential trouble. Crockett moves his entire operation to Dallas upon expanding there, incurring sizable expenses. Ron Garvin would win the Heavyweight title as houses began to suffer. What was to come? Join arguably the most hated member of wrestling’s most notorious faction ever, as Tully Blanchard sits down with you to draw back the curtain on everything happening in 1987.

THE BUILD UP - Butch turns heel and not only double-crosses JYD, but sets the South on fire by painting JYD and then tarring and feathering him. THE ANGLE - Butch and Dog worked each other from 1983 into 1984, drawing in help from talent like Buddy Landel and Ted DiBiase up until June of 1984 at the New Orleans Superdome. THE SHOT - Over 20,000 people come to see the blow-off for the North American Title between the two strongest draws in Mid South!

A life that left a young Levy starved for attention by a cold, affectionless father who also lived a life in the public eye as the managing editor of the National Enquirer. Learn from the inside how the world’s most infamous paper operated in its heyday, and the toll it took on family. So get ready to spend more than 90 minutes with a guy who happens to have as many personality disorder diagnoses as he does brilliance. Part therapy, part interview…all shoot. It’s the series that reminds us “they’re people.”
Before Francine became a sex symbol for the most violent, depraved organization in wrestling, she was a regular Philly girl. She was working a menial insurance job with wrestling nowhere on her radar. On a whim, she grabs the phone and calls a number she sees on TV for the ECW training school. The rest is hardcore history. The ECW landscape was pretty tough so now you’ll hear how this lady, as tough as her character, managed to navigate that road and come out on the other side. Francine fought through great personal tragedies as well as great disappointment over accusations aimed at her from an ECW talent on a KC show. Tear-jerker and laugh riot, all the same, this edition of Breaking Kayfabe stands as all do–part interview, part therapy…all shoot.
We once again retreat into the personal lives of pro wrestling's stars and uncover what lies hidden beneath the facade they've created with their in ring characters. This time Breaking Kayfabe takes a personal journey into Kevin Nash's past and present, away from the ring. This is an extremely intimate journey as Kevin allows Sean into the headline-making arrest and the struggles at home, as well as the realities of a life in the ring and on the road. Explore this complex man and enjoy the journey as Sean takes Kevin all over the map and watch the rare rapport they share as they cover almost everything and anything. Part therapy, part interview...all shoot. It's the series that reminds us "they're people."
Atop the tag team division in the WWE in 1981 stood a fiery youngster and his brother figure, both of whom had the looks and the brawn to bring fans to their feet all over the Northeast. They slammed Moondogs, battled Samoans, and were high-flying champions full of excitement. Head back to 1981 with Rick Martel and enter the locker rooms walked by Vincent J. McMahon, Gorilla Monsoon, Capt Lou Albano and the legends of yesteryear. This may have been a simpler time in the business, but the lessons learned were hard, and so was the road. Come into the venues of yesteryear and see who was getting over and who wasn’t. This is the real deal…a time with no cable TV, no pay-per-view, and one hour of syndicated TV per week…and the arenas were packed.
Some say it was the pinnacle of the ECW movement. It was the year 1996 and the company was all wrestling fans could talk about. The crew of misfits and rebels were becoming stars and to here this current guest describe it...The life of excess would mark 96 as one of the 'lost years.' But Raven remembers enough to take you inside the renegade federation in this explosive year of 1996.
Before taking on the identity of WCW, Jim Crockett Promotions would get great national exposure on WTBS after buying the slot from Vince McMahon for $1 million. Their stars were now stars all over the country, and our guest for this edition was becoming the biggest babyface in the company. Magnum TA had just arrived from Mid South and was taking the territory by storm, heading toward the US Title and becoming the #1 challenger for Flair. He’d feud with Tully, battle Flair, and help JCP begin its transition to what would become known as WCW. 1985 is the first year in our journey, so come along and join Magnum and hear about the red hot year that would propel the company into a decade and a half wild ride.
The venerable manager of the Four Horsemen and trusted WCW office member JJ Dillon is the next star to jump in the Kayfabe Commentaries time machine. The time the year is 1988 in WCW and Ted Turner is about to step in and buy the company from the Crockett family. They're beginning to feel the battle wounds as WWE and WCW begin running big events against each other. The war is in high gear. J.J. Dillon takes us inside the company and also inside the office, as he was working for the Crocketts there as well. Hear how torn he was as Arn and Tully, his benchmark Horsemen benchmark, jump to the WWE. A star is born as Sting main events against Flair. But did he ever really 'have it?'
It's January 1989 and significant changes are coming for WCW. There would soon be a change in bookers with Dusty heading out. Jim Herd is taking the helm as executive vice president of the company and within a year a series of confounding decisions would result in damaged ratings, confusion in creative, a nearly empty Superdome, Ding-Dongs and a disappointing Bash tour. Jim Cornette returns to the timeline series and now takes you inside the WCW in 1989. He's brought along all his paperwork from the company for that year...TV formats, ratings, reports, journal entries...for a ride that's as entertaining as it is informative. It's classic Corny as he takes us back to a time in WCW that has to be heard to be believed.
The shoot-style series Timeline brought the inner workings of the WWE and ECW to the historians out there. And now the series has spun-off again as the spotlight is shone on WCW. From the Crockett days in the mid-80s up to its purchase in 2001, the WCW was the staunchest competitor, igniting the famed Monday Night Wars. But in this edition we take you back to times that weren’t so glorious. Four Horseman member Barry Windham travels back to 1991 with us as we look some odd booking decisions and the period in the business between the glorious 80s and the high octane 90s.
Two organizations, two Heavyweight titles, dipping business and a whole lot of confusion comes to the WCW in 1993. Now you can head back there as well with our tour guide Vader, who was holding the WCW title. Sure, there was to be an NWA champion during this time as well, but Vader’s title was the WCW title which carried more weight…didn’t it? In this year we will hear of Eric Bischoff’s ascension, prepping Hogan’s return, Dusty’s booking and Flair’s booking as the Nature Boy returned to WCW TV. In this year Vader changed the game as he became the first 400-pounder to hit a moonsault and set records in Japan while holding the WCW belt. IT’S TIME…IT’S TIME… For another trip back in the WCW with the one and only Vader!
There are watershed moments in the history of pro wrestling where the business is redefined, reinvented, or otherwise recast in a new mold. 1994 saw one of those moments when Hulk Hogan signed with the archenemy, WCW. It would reshape wrestling and create a new kind of competitive drama. And behind all of this was a mastermind who would go on to helm WCW and achieve the unthinkable. Join Eric Bischoff as he takes you back to the year when he began his ascension up the ranks of WCW and fired the opening salvo of what would become a “war.” Go inside the oft discussed talent meetings. Hear about the hirings and firings first-hand, right here! Everything you’ve wanted to know about Eric’s formulation of the plan to bring down Rome begins HERE, in 1994 with Okerlund, Heenan, Hogan, Savage, and so much more! Become an insider during WCW’s turbulent times, with the tensions between Dusty and Flair, Flair’s reluctant “retirement,” a budget that was unmanageable and ratings that were drowning.
Was he evil incarnate? The twisted leader of the Dungeon of Doom stable was busy on both sides of the camera in 1996 as some very familiar faces to WWE fans began popping up on WCW TV and were preparing a takeover of the company. This formation of the nWo would launch WCW over the top, as it would soon overtake WWE in the ratings. Kevin Sullivan was booking the WCW, but it was getting really crowded in those decision making meetings. It seemed everyone had an opinion, and Hulk Hogan’s creative control clause would lead to some of the oddest decisions in pro wrestling, as many in power could only sit back and watch. Here comes Nash, Hall, Waltman and YOU! Join the Bookerman in 1996!
Breaking Kayfabe returns to explore the life of another wrestling star whose life outside the ring was as captivating as his work inside it. We head inside the rock n’ roll lifestyle that seemed so wild and fun years ago. But now Sean probes that surface and we see what truly lies beneath all the fun we assume the superstars were having. Marty Jannetty lets us inside his world as a Rocker, and the struggles that followed. Marty’s troubled home life as a youth may have been a precursor to some activities that followed, from drugs, to arrests, to questionable practices with women. As Marty bares his soul in this hard-hitting series, we see his road to salvation and his born-again status. But can the soul of this addict and perpetual sinner truly be saved? Judge for yourself as we present another edition of the series that reminds us all…”they’re people.”
Prepare for a trip inside the man responsible for the character of The Franchise Shane Douglas. Troy Martin is universally regarded as one of the most intelligent, well-spoken men in the wrestling business, and now he sits down across from Sean Oliver for a trip into his past, as well as his future. Troy tackles his childhood and the pain of loss as well as the formative years in his education and career. Martin’s successes did not come without a price. We will explore the pains of divorce, addiction, and the frustration of education from a teacher’s perspective. After removing himself from Extreme Rising, he is set to embark on a venture to launch a new, revolutionary wrestling organization and you’ll hear all about it. It’s all here…high school, college, wrestling, teaching, and yes, Target…all in this latest edition of Breaking Kayfabe.
Our latest guest to bare their soul on our newest series probably has more to sift through than any guest to date. Tammy Sytch’s battery of arrests and rehab visits has catapulted her back into the national spotlight in unflattering portrayals in every media outlet. Now she sits with Sean, in a sober and reflective interview, in an effort to get down to who she really is. Will this even be possible? Tammy has admitted to concocting lies and tall tales in previous interviews. Now, in the psychologically probing series “Breaking Kayfabe,” Tammy is challenged by Sean to cut the B.S. and try and really fix the deep issues she undoubtedly has. The series that shows the stars as people is back with an episode ripped from the headlines.
Breaking Kayfabe is the wrestling world’s forum for the stars of the ring to unveil themselves. They emerge from under their characters and we see the human beings that lived beneath what was on television for years. Some tried harder than others to protect the manufactured personas, and possibly none lived their gimmick more than Terry Brunk when he became Sabu. Join Sean Oliver as he peels away the layers of Brunk and we meet the man with a historic wrestling family legacy, and a man living with the pain of being one of wrestling’s most death-defying athletes. Here is a complex man, wrapped in the pride he has for what he’s done, the pain for things he’s done, and the realization that the end is near. This is as real as it gets, guys…Breaking Kayfabe with the man you knew as Sabu, but will now never forget, as Terry.
With the nWo in full swing, there seemed no way that WCW could lose the momentum they’d built. Huge stars appeared on TV weekly as Nash, Hall, Syxx, Hogan, Savage, Flair, Bret and Sting were red hot and would drive ratings high. Starrcade would deliver WCW’s highest buyrate in 1997 as well. Now head inside that operation with one of the engineers of the nWo, Kevin Nash. Join Kev for this 3+ hour journey into WCW and hear about putting all the pieces together and playing the game of wrestling politics to perfection. Nash is open and honest as usual and holds no opinion close to the vest. It all goes on the table and if you ever wondered what was going on inside the company during the glory days of the nWo…wonder no more!!! From the contracts to the characters…it’s all here in this edition of Timeline: The History of WCW!
It’s 1990 and things are about to change. One of wrestling’s most celebrated managers and bookers would see his successful tenure in WCW come to an abrupt end. There would be Black Scorpions, a Mysterious Pearl, and a fake Sting, among other things, to keep fans riveted. But perhaps it’s what we weren’t able to see that makes this year all the more interesting. Head back to the tumultuous year of 1990 with Jim Cornette as he draws back the curtain on the booking decisions, ratings, and the blowouts with WCW head honcho Jim Herd in this entertaining and informative edition of the Timeline series. We will show you the WCW/TBS documents as Jim narrates the story that would prove to be the end of his run with the company…in all the glorious detail you’d expect from Timeline and the spellbinding rancor you’d expect from Cornette!
This transitional year of 1990 would see a move away from some of what made wrestling cool in the 1980s. The company would try, with varying degrees of success, to prepare for tomorrow and where the business might go. Heck..maybe it wasn’t with pro bodybuilding or Gobbledy Gookers. But they had to give it a shot! They would transition the heavyweight title away from Hulkamania and more towards the Warrior galaxies above! A red-faced preacher type was getting in our faces every week and driving the babyfaces crazy. The man behind that character was also running much of WWE TV that year and he is our guest for an exclusive journey back to that year of 1990…Bruce Prichard. Join Bruce and get the inside scoop on everything from the ICOPRO to the lawsuits…from the Legion of Doom to the Battle Kat…you’ll get the good and the bad!!!
The Attitude Era has become a benchmark in WWE history, universally agreed to signify one of the most successful eras in the company’s history. This year would rivet us to TVs, eagerly awaiting Stone Cold’s next move against his nemesis and chess master Mr. McMahon. ‘Smart marks’ would just as eagerly await the Tuesday morning ratings. So as seemingly everyone was awaiting something, our guest for this edition of Timeline was trenched down with Vince McMahon, busy helping create what would shock us next Monday. Join WWE’s former head writer Vince Russo and head inside the locker rooms, writing meetings, and everywhere else once restricted and relive the era that breathed new life into wrestling’s biggest company.
Imagine toiling away in comic matches and bouncing around ringside in a secondary role when suddenly, you are thrust into a huge angle beside the boss, playing his son! Someone must’ve wished on a four-leaf clover because that was 2007 for this LIttle Bastard! And he’s taking you inside that and so much more!!! Join Swoggle and examine more of the brand-split era with a view from the inside, a little lower than usual.
If ever a reputation preceded someone into the Breaking Kayfabe seat, it might be this one. Teddy Annis “Hart,” nephew of Bret and the Hart brothers, makes headlines. Sometimes Teddy does it with high-risk wrestling moves. Sometimes Teddy does it with criminal charges. Either way, Teddy knows how to get people talking. And man, can Teddy talk himself. But how many times has Teddy been forced to drop the machine gun, rapid fire banter and speak from the soul? This is what we sought to achieve on this edition of the show. Teddy’s path is seemingly filled with dark roads and dead ends. How much of this had Teddy brought on himself? He can blame ex-wives, girlfriends, and Bret, but Teddy’s greatest enemy may be the person staring him in the mirror. Then again, that may just be one of Teddy’s faces. It’s part therapy, part interview, all shoot. It’s another Breaking Kayfabe.
To understand what ECW became, we must learn from where it came. In a wrestling world invaded by Goons, pig farmers, and Sparky Plugs, there would soon operate a wrestling church in South Philadelphia. That site preached gospel to wrestling fans longing for some danger and believability. And for this very special edition of the series we head back to that very location, the former ECW Arena. Our guest for this exploration of the very inception of ECW is the founder, Tod Gordon. Tod will take you inside everything that formed the company and fostered the identity that the big feds would try to emulate. From humble beginnings to sudden glory, this is the tale of how it happened! Plus a great bonus feature as Tod takes us through the former ECW Arena!
See the stars roast Corny! Featuring: Jim Cornette, Al Snow, Bob Holly, Dutch Mantell, Dennis Condrey, Bobby Eaton, Nick Dinsmore, Missy Hyatt, Bill Apter, Prince Nana, Amy Lee, Ryan Maher, Sean Morton and Sean Carlucci.
