Antonio Betancourt

In 1939, José Garcés is in French prison camp after the defeat of Spain's Republicans. To entertain and inspire his fellow prisoners, he tells the story of becoming a man in 1919, the year he realized that learning to live is the same as learning to die. His stiff and demanding father loses a fortune in German war bonds, takes a job in Caspe, and leaves José on his own in Zaragoza to finish high school while apprenticing in a pharmacy. José courts his beloved Valentina via letters, becomes intimate with Isabel, a maid he meets in a cinema who shares his ideas of free love, and comes under the influence of El Checa, an anarchist and gentle teacher who leads a doomed revolt.

The plot follows the misadventures of two young friends who are forced into street hustling and ever-expanding life of crime when one impregnates the sister of the other and they need to get the money to pay for her to have an abortion.

Rafael, a young man from the provinces, works as a waiter in a resort and helps himself economically having sex for money with rich older women. During a bomb threat, he is discovered in bed with one of the guest, Leonor Marchioness of Montenegro, and he is fired as a consequence. The Marchioness of Montenegro is an aging aristocrat, ruined economically, but still with wealthy and influential friends. She helps Rafael finds a new job in Madrid as the gardener in the mansion of Antonio Fernández Herrador, Minister of economy in the new democratic Spanish government.

Eduardo, a wealthy banker who has a pastime for hiring young street hustlers to keep his bed warm, spots Miguel, an extremely handsome teen who has a penchant for women and motorcycles.

Following the events of El pico, the heroin-addicted Paco faces jail time due to his involvement in a double murder.

A chronicle of the life of Jaro, the leader of a juvenile delinquent gang, depicting his rise from street urchin to outlaw anti-hero on the way to his inevitable end.

Cesar and Isabel just got married for the Jewish rite, their religion. He is a director of a banking company. She works in a bookstore owned by her mother-in-law. The couple sees their happiness truncated when César discovers financial anomalies in the entity where he works. What were initially charges against some managers, becomes an accusation of embezzlement against César, who is in France to prevent his entry into military service. Go back and appear before the judge to prove his innocence.

A bank employee, shy and skittish, is falling into the web of fear of the events he sees around him and the crime wave that seems to invade the city.

The film has no clear plot. It deals with the reactions of an older man and a young woman to the news stories that occur in 1968: the May student protests, Vietnam, Biafra. It is scattered, apparently disconnected. The characters find themselves in illogical situations: in a train cemetery, in a ruined house where some young people edit a journal. There is no sound of steps, and doors, when opened or closed, make no sound.

The film is an image of the Spanish society in form of various anecdotes which happen to the inhabitants and their neighbours of a finca in Madrid.

El higo mágico

Tender and erotic love story of a respectable bourgeois housewife and a large black Alsatian dog. Shot in 1977, the film employs bestiality as a symbol of Spain's political landscape. It makes references to the massacre of Atocha and to political right wing groups that, after the death of Francisco Franco, tried to maintain the dictator’s political ideals.

Rafa and Jeromo are a curious couple of friends. Their friendship began in childhood as well as his love for Silvia, which have been in love since childhood.
