Neil Gudsell

A mute Scottish woman arrives in colonial New Zealand for an arranged marriage. Her husband refuses to move her beloved piano, giving it to neighbor George Baines, who agrees to return the piano in exchange for lessons. As desire swirls around the duo, the wilderness consumes the European enclave.

After her father's death, Anna Peterson and her family move from Australia to her father's ancestral home in New Zealand.

This performance-based film could potentially be filed under 'Pasifika tribal fusion'. Cinematographer Waka Attewell captures the talents of percussion group Strike (including then long-haired composer Gareth Farr) and choreographer/dancer Mika.
