The soldier Bengt (Gustaf Bengtsson) has problems with the drill, so the lieutenant (Erik Berglund) orders punishment drill. Bengt beheves so badly he ends up in the brig but manages to escape.
Johan Sjöborg and his wife Karin are on their way back to Sweden from New York. They arrive to Gothenburg just as the big exhibition is opening.
