Chief Inspector Karl Jäger is preparing for the birth of his grandchild, while his colleague Jasmin Stein is thrown into a passionate love affair. But Lola Kraft is also back after her maternity leave when the body of a car dealer is found in a villa. The safe is open, but apparently no money was stolen. What was so valuable that the son of a Russian mafia boss had to die?

A supermarket is robbed. Commissioner Karl Jäger, who happens to be present, shoots the robber and is subsequently suspended from duty because the attacker’s weapon is not found. The incident also plunges Jäger into deep psychological problems. As a result, commissioners Lola Kraft and Jasmin Stein are called in when two bodies are discovered during the night of a class reunion at the Calw Hermann Hesse High School.
