A pickpocket falls in love with a newspaperman. When he is sent off to war and she disguises herself as a boy, joins a gang and sets out to save him.

Vania is a political refugee who travels from Russia to the United States. But even in America, she is pursued by assassins known as "the Ring of Death" because she carries certain papers given to her back home by her father. She marries a man who turns out to be a drug addict, and in a heated argument, she shoots him. A young lawyer defends her, then falls in love with her.

A curse has been placed upon the Agro family because of the indiscretions of its male ancestors. The present-day Agro male, Reggero, carries on with many of the women in his village, until one day one of his lovers dies after confessing her affair with him. The girl's father sets out to kill Ruggero for "soiling" his daughter. This Italian-language drama was shot in northern New Jersey with members of a Sicilian-American theater company. It was made for the large Italian-speaking population of the northeastern US.
