Twelve-year-old Koen's day, and with it his childhood, comes undone when he waits in vain one Saturday morning for his parents to take him to ice hockey practice. He wanders through the strangely empty house in his full hockey gear, bored. In order to kill time he jumps on his parents' bed and tries to scare his distraught older sister. Something seems to be amiss, but the precocious boy can't fathom what.

Death haunts nightlife in Amsterdam. A serial killer makes boys disappear without a trace, but in his own way, he is a victim himself. He is not your average serial killer. When Vos unexpectedly develops feelings for the lonely Bram, he is confronted with his own lust for blood, while Bram risks his freedom and his life to preserve the precarious relationship. After all, the sensitive Vos is a vampire, a willy-nilly monster, who sustains himself on the boys he picks up in nightclubs. As the two boys grow closer together, Bram notices that sexually Vos puts up a wall, while Bram wants to push the limits.

Former Amsterdam police detective Floris Wolfs has been transferred to the police department of the south-Dutch country town Maastricht. His metropolitan experience nicely complements the local expertise of his new country colleagues, who know the folks. Slowly he fits in, while solving countless crimes together with his female partner Eva van Dongen.
