When Darrell, Gwen, Mary-Lou, Sally and Ellen are stranded alone on Christmas Eve they fear a ghost is haunting them, meanwhile Gwen struggles with the news of her parents sudden divorce.
Lily forges a will and coax's Jo to smuggle it into the school. Gwen swears she never wants to see her farther again when he abolishes her finishing school place, but when he is found in his car having a heart attack, Gwen realises she must make changes in her life to become a better person as Darrell attempts to prevent Malory Towers from falling into the wrong hands.
