Elsa Ratassepp

Biography

Elsa Ratassepp (March 7, 1893 – May 4, 1972), was an Estonian stage, radio and film actress whose career spanned over fifty years. Elsa Ratassepp was born in Raadi-Kruusamäe, a neighbourhood of Tartu. She joined the Vanemuine theatre as an actress in 1916 and was later a founder and actress in the travelling Rändteater based in Tallinn. The Rändteater troupe lasted from 1926 until 1928. Ratassepp had a long stage career throughout the 1910s and into the late 1960s. However, she didn't make a film appearance until the 1959 Juli Kun and Kaljo Kiisk directed comedy Vallatud kurvid for Tallinna Kinostuudio. This was followed by the role of Triinu in the 1962 Igor Jeltsov directed melodrama Ühe katuse all, based on the novel of the same name by Hans Leberecht. Ratassepp's film career was most prolific in the 1960s. Memorable performances include the role of Mari in the 1963 Kaljo Kiisk directed drama Jäljed; the 1966 Jüri Müür directed drama Kirjad Sõgedate külast; the 1968 Leida Laius directed drama Libahunt, which was based on the play of the same name by Estonian author August Kitzberg; and in the 1968 Jüri Müür directed drama Inimesed sõdurisinelis, based on the novel Enn Kalmu kaks mina, written by Paul Kuusberg. Elsa Ratassepp was married to stage and film actor Rudolf Ratassepp. The couple had two children; son Valdeko Ratassepp, born in 1912, who would also become a stage and film actor; and a daughter, Valda Ratassepp-Avasalu, born in 1914, would become a dancer and actress. Rudolf Ratassepp would die in prison custody in Chelyabinsk, Russia in 1942 while detained by Soviet authorities

Biography

Han Yew Kwang studied to be an architect but ended up as a scriptwriter at MediaCorp and then later SPH Channel U. In 2002, his short film The Call Home (2002) won Best Short Film at the Singapore International Film festival and garnered him great attention. He made his first feature Unarmed Combat in 2005, and followed that up with romance comedy 18 Grams of Love (2007). In 2009, he was awarded the National Arts Council Young Artist Award. His next features were a romantic comedy telemovie Love in a Cab (2010) and comedy When Hainan Meets Teochew (2011). His next project was the sex comedy, Rubbers (2015). Most recently, Yew Kwang directed the supernatural romance comedy When Ghost Meets Zombie (2019), starring Nathan Hartono.

Spike Edney

Biography

Philip "Spike" Edney is an English musician who, since the 1960s, has performed with a number of bands, most notably with Queen in their live concerts, where his participation started in 1984. During the mid-1970s, he recorded and toured with The Tymes and Ben E. King, playing keyboards, bass, guitar and trombone. Subsequently, in the late 1970s, he was musical director for Edwin Starr and, during the early 1980s, worked with Duran Duran, The Boomtown Rats, Dexys Midnight Runners, Bucks Fizz, Haircut One Hundred and The Rolling Stones. Melanie Redmond is a British vocalist and music related career woman. Beginning her career as a session singer, Melanie in the 1980s and early 1990s toured with artists including Bob Geldof, The The, Bill Wyman, and performing with Duran Duran during The Big Live Thing Tour. She has also worked with artists such as Dolly Parton, Donny Osmond, Chris Rea, Sting and featured in Andy Taylor's 1990 "Lola" video. In 2003, Melanie became part of a very successful pop quartet of over-forty women, a Chiswick, UK based group calling itself Fortyfied, created and produced by Keith Chegwin's twin brother, Jeff Chegwin. Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer who won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. Jacqui Copland

Biography

Jacqui Copland is a Scottish vocalist. Jacqui began her musical career as a member of an Aberdeen (Scotland) band called Private ID, followed by a move to London becoming the lead singer of the rock band Vera Cruz. She has toured as backing vocalist for musical acts such as Climie Fisher, Paul Young and performed on Duran Duran's Big Live Thing Tour. In 1990, she became a member of The Dreamfield, alongside Stuart Elliot and Rick Driscoll. Later she contributed both lead and backing vocals on the Alan Parsons 1993 solo album Try Anything Once, working with Alan Parsons on the track "Mr Time" which she wrote the lyric/vocal melody. On giving up backing singing, Jacqui then formed the band Copland in 1995 with Adrian York, playing the London circuit. During this period she wrote and recorded an extensive repertoire of contemporary rock with an eccentric twist. This included the track "Bored", released on the albums Cosmic Spaceman and Karma Suit Ya. The band disbanded in 1999.

Bryce Dallas Howard (born March 2, 1981) is an American actress and director. Howard was born in Los Angeles and attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, leaving in 2002 to take roles on Broadway but graduating in 2020. While portraying Rosalind in a 2003 production of As You Like It, Howard caught the attention of director M. Night Shyamalan, who cast her as the blind daughter of a local chief in the psychological thriller The Village (2004). She later starred in the leading role of a naiad who escapes from a fantasy world in Shyamalan's fantasy thriller Lady in the Water (2006). Steve Bronski

Biography

Steven William Forrest (7 February 1960 – 7 December 2021) was a Scottish singer-songwriter, best known for his time as a member of synth pop band Bronski Beat, with Jimmy Somerville and Larry Steinbachek. He was a co-founder and keyboard player of the group Bronski Beat, known for the singles "Smalltown Boy" and "Why?". He was also an LGBTQ activist and was openly gay from an early age. Raised in Castlemilk, Glasgow, Bronski worked in his youth as a labourer. He lived in a flat in Brixton, London, during the early formative period of Bronski Beat with his fellow musicians. Later on he squatted with partner and bandmate Larry Steinbachek in Camberwell, London. Following the break up of the band he lived in Thailand for many years, as well as Paris, France, before returning to the United Kingdom. In 2016, Larry Steinbachek died after a short battle with cancer. Bronski had a stroke in 2018 which limited his mobility.
