At a maternity ward in South Vietnam, a midwife adopts three orphaned children after their mothers, undercover Communist spies, go missing or die in action.

Standing Before the Sea tells about the conflicts between the new and the old as the country stands on the threshold of a great change. From the conflicts between children and adults between director Ba Duc (Truong Khoi) and chief accountant Chin Tam (Tra Giang), the film takes viewers back to a time when people dedicated to the country stood in front of them, making big choices and having to deal with the stagnation and obstacles of the old. The film by director Tran Phuong was produced in 1990 with the participation of actors Trong Khoi, Thuong Tin, and Tra Giang.

Hoa is a young engineer and computer specialist who arranges the database of a research institution. She is hardworking, yet her dedication goes unnoticed, and her boss dismisses her work and expertise as “redundant”. One day, the institution receives a major data overhaul project. With tight deadlines and giant workload, finishing in time feels impossible for the staff, and it seems only one person can help them…

Follows a South Vietnamese soldier during the fall of Saigon in 1975.
