Biography

Patricio Escartín Murillo is a Film student at the National School of Cinematographic Arts (ENAC) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2019, he directed his first short film called "The Bastard Son" (2019), which was selected in two online festivals. During that period, he was recognized for his research work in filmmaking, winning the First Place in the Youth Research Program organized by the National Preparatory School of UNAM. Later on, he studied at the College of Dramatic Literature and Theater at UNAM while working as a production assistant at audiovisual production companies such as Guayabo Films and Landia, where he worked on various music videos. During the pandemic, he continued his training online by taking different film courses until he joined ENAC in 2021. Since his time at the film school, Patricio has participated in various student and independent short films, taking on different roles in the filmmaking process, including directing and assisting in cinematography, production, sound recording, and assistant directing. Recently, Patricio had the opportunity to participate in the BJX Guanajuato International Film Festival as a representative of ENAC in the Lab//Kinoroom 2023. He is also part of the pre-selection jury for this year's Leon International Film Festival. Patricio continues his film education by taking various courses at cultural institutions such as Cineteca Nacional or Casa Negra. Additionally, he is currently preparing his first documentary short film with ENAC as a film director. He is about to start his fifth semester in the Bachelor's Degree in Cinematography, where he wants to specialize in the area of Fiction Filmmaking.
