Elas por Ela reconstituted the history of MPB between 1920 and 1970, from the female perspective, also showing the transformation of the role of women in society over these years. Marília Pêra chose 35 singers to honor and, from 50 songs, put together the script for the show.

Written by Nelson Motta and directed by Zelito Viana, the work is a 'docutainment,' much of it narrated in the first person, thanks to the numerous interviews she gave throughout her life, especially to TV Globo. It also features interviews, testimonials from colleagues, archival footage, and impressive musical numbers, as well as dramatic and comedic scenes from her iconic performances in theater, television, and cinema. The documentary is a profound tribute to a complete artist, who, by acting, dancing, singing, and directing, participated in 49 plays, 29 soap operas, 12 series, and 24 films, winning over 80 national and international awards.

The search for a successor provokes the beginning of a clash between two young and talented executives of his group: Daniel Bastos, a lad of simple origins and excellent character, who is not only handsome and charming, but also intelligent and skilled, and Olavo Novaes, an ambitious and unscrupulous man who is ready to fight for the position, at any cost. Antenor, for his part, decides on having an heir when he meets the headstrong and honest Lúcia, a woman who will make this cold businessman find true love is and a real reason to live.
