Biography

Cynthia Patricia Zamorano Cavalcante, better known as Cyz, is a Brazilian producer, singer, and songwriter. Born in Olinda, Pernambuco, she has been interested in electronic music since she was fifteen. In 1997, she decided to incorporate electronic music into her compositions. Her career took off in Europe. There, Cyz composed, sang, and produced the album *Precyz*, which was considered by the British magazine *Straight No Chaser* as one of the best albums of 2001. Deciding to pursue a solo project, she worked with a group of musicians and producers in studios in Recife, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Lisbon, and released the solo album *Littlefishdublongwatersamba* in 2004. This autobiographical album features collaborations with Gilberto Gil, Sérgio Cassiano, DJ Dolores, Zeca Baleiro, FusionLab, Fred 04, Kalaf, Tó Ricciardi, Miguel Guia, Maciel Salú, Cila do Coco, and others. These two albums were released by the Nylon – Off the Record label, distributed in Europe and Japan, as well as unreleased songs on various compilations. Cyz is known for making sonic associations between popular Brazilian rhythms with a Pernambuco accent, as in her collaborations with international producers Swag and Howie B (U2 and Björk). Cyz also became known as a judge on the musical talent show Ídolos, broadcast by SBT in 2006 and 2007; Later, she appeared in the first two seasons of the show Astros, broadcast by the same channel from 2008 to 2009, and also in the show Qual é o Seu Talento?, also broadcast by SBT, from January 5, 2009 to January 9, 2012. The judge was part of the judging panel of the new generation of the show Astros, broadcast by SBT until the beginning of 2013, and in 2014, she joined the judging panel of the show Esse Artista Sou Eu, along with Thomas Roth and Miranda. She is the mother of Yara and Tomaz.
