Masry el Araby is an American-Egyptian citizen who travels back to his home town (in Egypt) after living in the US for 20 years. He has this idea of Egypt being a wonderful and amazing country, but the idea soon crashes as he faces reality. After arriving in Egypt, Masry is treated badly when he uses his Egyptian Passport. But then when he starts using his American Passport as an identification card, he is paid with a lot of respect. He faces many problems as he loses both passports.

The mother separates from her husband and a divorce occurs between them. The mother takes one of the twin sisters, and the father takes the other. The two sisters grow up far from each other, and each of them has a different personality from the other as a result of the separation of the father and mother. One of them is dominated by feelings of selfishness and greed, while the other sister works hard to teach her. She is trying to achieve her ambitions.

Set in the 1970's, a group of actors work on a new play. They discover that the play's events revolves around their true behind-the-scenes characters, with the script presenting their deepest and darkest secrets. The actors try to put a stop to the revealing play, but their manager insists that the show must go on.
