Biography
Danilo Acquisto is a TV presenter on Afternoon Express and a radio presenter on Good Hope FM - with far too much energy and passion filling in the time between the two.
Danilo grew up in Johannesburg and attended St Stithians College, where he matriculated with five distinctions, attained Honours for academics and dramatic arts, and led his peers as a prefect. On completing high school, he was hungry for change and set out to challenge himself. This led him to Cape Town in 2010 where he pursued a BA Law degree at UCT. He completed his studies in 2012 graduating with a BA degree in Law and Sociology under his belt.
While studying at UCT, he hosted the afternoon drive show on UCT Radio. In September 2010 he entered a presenter search for a television show on SABC2, Hectic Nine-9. He went on to win the coveted role of lead presenter for the live television show, where he presented to an audience of over 3 million viewers daily. In addition to this, he also produced for the show on a regular basis.
In 2015, Danilo went on to become one of the three winners of the #PresenterSearchOn3, where he was named the new addition to the Afternoon Express team on SABC3, where he presents alongside Bonang Matheba, Jeannie D and Bonnie Mbuli.
In between being a live television presenter on Hectic Nine-9 for four years and the #PresenterSearchon3, he was employed as a Development Producer to create new concepts for a production company, and acted as a Production Assistant on an international cooking show for the Food Network.
Television is not the only platform you will find Danilo. He also currently hosts his own radio shows on Good Hope FM called the #MusicLab every Saturday and Sunday between 12 and 3pm. Saturday’s focus is on dance music, whereas Sunday has more of a laid back feel with song requests and social media engagement. In addition to the many media personality hats he wears, Danilo is also a social entrepreneur; an advocate of the power of hope in the youth and in digital media; an official ambassador for Iris House Children’s Hospital; and Chairman of the Youth Chaplaincy Committee for the Youth Office of the Western Arch Diocese. One of the greatest roles Danilo fulfils is that of a director of Life Choices, where he sits on the board. He also leads the Genesis and Life Teen groups at his church, and has recently combined his social entrepreneurship and his faith to create The Curious Catholic - a platform for young people to explore the faith, listen to music, read inspiring testimonies and get links to some pretty cool websites and videos.
His confidence, outgoing nature, and authentic on air personality stand him in good stead when it comes to MC’ing an event and doing voice overs for advertising campaigns and corporate work – both of which, he is booked for on a regular basis.
