Directed by Helen Tadesse, often recognized as Ethiopia’s first female feature film director, the film centers on a teenage girl trying to live with the psychological aftermath of a sexual assault.
Helen Tadesse’s debut feature follows a group of siblings in Addis Ababa as they navigate daily survival they had never seen coming following the death of their wealthy parents.
Best friends Helina and Gelila travel from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar for Helina’s younger sister’s wedding. On the way, they meet two men who are traveling for fieldwork. What starts as a simple meeting on the road eventually turns into something sinister.
