In a small town in the countryside in the south of Brazil, a teenager that uses the codename Mr. Tambourine Man spends his time in Internet, at school, smoking pot with his best friend Diego and with his dysfunctional mother. He dreams on leaving his hometown to watch a Bob Dylan's show but seems to be hopeless stranded in the spot.

January 1st, 2003. When Brazil celebrates President Lula′s historic investiture, two middle-class, provincial families gather in an old, poorly maintained house. As they prepare a big party, secrets, hidden desires and frustrations are revealed.

Isolated on the beach, the powerful business woman Frederica prepares an awaited New Year`s party. In the middle of a marriage crisis with photographer Constantin, which affects directly her teenage daughter, she has to manage her life and the career of pop icon Lenny, who decided to write a mysterious work alongside writer João Wommer. When a strange creature appears from the bottom of the sea, the crisis takes place in the web of affections, and Frederica will have to face her biggest fear: loss.

Written in 1625 by the British playwright Ben Jonson, the play “The Staple of News” provides a historic root for this discussion about the role of the press in modern day Brazil. Journalists of several generations discuss the dilemmas of the selection and focus of their subjects, the resistance of the media in accepting itself as a political agent, the inevitability of interpretation as there are no hard facts in nature, and above all the search for an always complex balance between credibility and the public’s growing demand for news.

In 1988, the disappearance of a young girl shocks the population of little Brígida, in the interior of southern Brazil, resulting in the banning of pagan festivities of Ivana Kupala. Thirty years later, the city is preparing to bring the party back, but terrifying events, along with the dangerous ritual of transmigration of souls, unsettle the community and bring to light the secrets of a crime that ties three families’ destinies through time.
