Biography
Paklong Zam (Mohd Asrul Nizam bin Mohd Yusof), born on December 6, 1986, in Grik, Perak, is a dedicated Malaysian film director. The eldest in a modest family, he began his education in electronic technology (UTM) and later pursued a degree in Geography (USM).
He served as a naval officer for 13 years before transitioning into the creative industry as a videographer and editor. His career progressed as an assistant director for several RTM telefilms before directing his debut film, Misteri Hutan Tok Kepak (2021), which showcased local cultural elements.
An expert in multimedia technology and cinematography, he is active in FDAM and PROFIMA, contributing to notable projects such as Canting and Mereka yang Tertewas. His philosophy emphasizes cultural and moral values, drawing inspiration from both local and international directors.
Significant recognitions include winning the Johan Pertandingan Muzikal Raya Aswara (2020). Despite challenges, including the loss of his beloved mother, Paklong Zam continues to inspire and contribute to the growth of Malaysian arts and culture.
