Biography

Hamzah Faizul Asyrofi, better known as Faizul Dunham, is a young filmmaker (born in Jakarta, July 18, 2008). Despite his young age, Faizul has already found cinema as a medium to pour out his restlessness and a way to tell stories about life. As both a director and an actor, Faizul is drawn to various genres, ranging from drama and romance to action. Yet behind this diversity, the common thread of his works always stems from personal unease and a desire to present stories that are honest and deeply connected to human experience. His cinematic journey began with his acting debut in the short film “The Confused” (2024), which marked his first step into the world of independent cinema. He has also worked on smaller projects with his peers, including directing a behind-the-scenes documentary of a school tour video—an experience that reinforced his belief that film is not only an art form, but also a medium of communication and reflection. Although he has yet to achieve major festival recognition or awards, Faizul emphasizes that his filmmaking journey has only just begun. For him, cinema is a long path, and every work that comes to life is a step toward a more mature expression. “Just wait for what’s coming next,” he says with quiet optimism.
