There he meets Hatomura (Yuichi Nakamura), an ace of the club who wants to turn around the club which has deteriorated to the point of dissolution, and Yuta (Hiroki Suzuki), an aloof cycling genius with unshaken confidence in his speed who does not allow others to follow him. "Hankyu Densha" follows the lives of various people who commute on Hankyu Railway's Imazu Line - connecting the cities of Nishinomiya and Takarazuka in Hyogo prefecture. One of the commuters is Shoko (Miki Nakatani), an office worker in her 30s who lost her boyfriend to a younger colleague. There's also a college student (Erika Toda) who is so easily persuaded by her no good boyfriend. Other commuters include a grandmother & granddaughter, a house wife, a female high school student, and a female otaku college student. Although the train ride takes only 15 minutes between two stations, the lives of these commuters are changed as they interact with each other...

Six guys wacky guys, who worked together at a summer beach bar job, come across a letter from dream girl Eriko. The letter isn't addressed to anyone in particular, but asks if the recipient would meet her at the beach bar on Christmas Eve. Ueba Kamo is a career woman who works as a government official at the Ministry of Finance after graduating from Tokyo University. A woman’s dead body is found in an apartment in Kokubunji, Tokyo. The decayed body seems like a half year has passed since its death and it is damaged by domestic cats that ate the body. The woman's death is thought to be a "lonely death" (someone died naturally without anyone noticing for a long period of time). Detective Ayano has doubts about that conclusion. The cats seemed like they were not house trained, which is odd for domestic cats. Detective Ayano wonders whether the cats were really owned by the dead woman. Detective Ayano then finds Suzuki Yoko’s bankbook in an empty fishbowl. It seems like the dead woman is 36-year-old Yoko.

Tōko Kisaragi is a detective in the Investigation 1 Section 11 of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Her senior, Detective Hideaki Takano, has decided to move to the Public Security Bureau. Hideaki Takano's transfer will be carried out in one week. During this time, a murder takes place. A wealthy man is found dead in his home. His throat has been cut and a blue flower placed within the wound. Also, the victim's wife, Mayumi, is missing. A newspaper then receives an email from Kurasuta 16, professing themselves as the murderer. The email also implies the location of Mayumi. Since Detective Hideaki Takano is soon to transfer to the Public Security Bureau, Tōko Kisaragi feels more pressure and responsibility to solve the crime.

Kazuko Yamase is a 23-year-old, broken-hearted freeter. One day, she sees a knitted teddy bear that really appeals to her. She decides to buy it. Later, the knitted teddy bear suddenly speaks! Within the teddy bear, Yasuo Amano's spirit lives. He is the person who knitted the teddy bear and he was also detective. Kazuko then becomes involved in a case with Yasuo and helps to solve the case.

Toyotaka Yoshida is a novelist. He was the winner of a big writing prize in his past, but he has been in a slump since then. Toyotaka Yoshida feels the limit of his writing ability and is thinking about quitting. Around this time, he meets his Shuntaro Koyanagi who is his friend and editor and Haruka Sakura who is a fan.

Haru Tezuka's parents run a bar in Kamata, Tokyo. She is honest and bright, but she can't lie which sometimes causes her to get in trouble. Haru finds it difficult to get a job. Haru then notices an application guideline from airline company ANA (All Nippon Airways). Haru, who never thought of working in the airline industry, decides to take a test for the airline company. She first attends a company presentation by ANA. There, she sees elite persons who have dreamed of becoming pilots for lengthy periods of time and airplane enthusiasts. She becomes overwhelmed by them. Haru is indecisive about whether she wants to go through with it, but she manages to barely pass her test. Now, Haru wants to become a pilot, but what awaits for her is harsh training.

Takano has been transferred to the Public Security Department, which is considered to be an elite among the Japanese police. A murder of a ruling party tycoon occurred near the scene of a bombing that occurred. An organ was removed from the body, and a balance with a heart and wings was left in the vicinity. Takano, who attended the scene of the bizarre incident, felt uncomfortable with the killing method that imitated ancient Egyptian mythology, and even though he began to tell the story, his colleague Himuro dismissed it.
