Biography
Joel DeMott is an American documentary filmmaker celebrated for her unflinching portrayals of American life. She co-directed Seventeen (1983) with Jeff Kreines, a documentary that offers an intimate look at the lives of high school seniors in Muncie, Indiana. The film received the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the 1985 Sundance Film Festival. DeMott also directed Demon Lover Diary (1980), a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a low-budget horror film, showcasing her commitment to authentic storytelling.
