Hamida Omarova (Azerbaijani: Həmidə Ömərova) was born to a family of teachers, Mammad and Nasiba Omarov. Her parents met at university where both of them studied foreign languages, and went on to have four children, three of whom died in their infancy. When Hamida was born, her parents visited the Sufi Hamid shrine in Qazakh and after being sure the newborn would survive, they named her after the sanctuary. Following her parents' divorce in 1960 and her father's permanent departure to his native Gazakh, Hamida Omarova was raised by her mother and grandmother. After graduating from high school she enrolled at Baku State University to study philology. While finishing her first year in 1975, she entered an academic contest along with other 300 people and was among the 15 contestants who were admitted to the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in Moscow. Omarova's first role was in a short film entitled The Dentist in 1977. Since then, she starred in over 30 films and became the most successful Azerbaijani actress of the decade performing at times in up to 4 movie shootings simultaneously. In Russia, she is known mostly for acting in Yuli Gusman's film "Don't Be Afraid, I'm with You" (1981), staged in Gakh, Azerbaijan. Her performance was rewarded with numerous awards including that of a People's Artist of Azerbaijan. With the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Azerbaijan's movie industry experienced severe decline. This became both a career decay and a psychological ordeal for Omarova. After going through a period of depression, she got married in 1992 and gave birth to a son. At the same time, she hosted the late night show Retro, a weekly review of classic movies from Azerbaijan and abroad. She finally became interested in theater during a break from school and got to know the Centro Cultural del Bosque, where she began to frequent and attend the plays that were presented. In high school she enrolled in a theater workshop, where, regardless of the discrimination she suffered for being an overweight woman, she understood that it could be the profession she wanted to pursue. Teresa moved to the city of Morelia, where she began to study in the theater workshops offered by the houses of culture and went through several plays until she participated in one that was presented at the National Theater Showcase of Mexico, and with which she began to gain some recognition. After several plays in her career the actress debuted in film with the movie ¿Dónde están sus historias, followed by Jodidos polleros (2007) and Verano de Goliat (2010) with which she obtained her first Ariel award nomination, as best actress in 2012. Dave Alspach

Biography

Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Dave was instilled with an unflinching spirit to perform daring stunts. At the age of 18, he toured the Pocono and Catskill Mountains as a professional diver with the 'John D. O'Keefe Aqua Revue'. This professed (and possessed) stunt daredevil would set himself ablaze and plunge into a pool 60 feet below his platform. Mediocrity has no room in the life of Dave Alspach. At the age of 19, he was a member of an elite Special Forces Team and served three years in Vietnam. However, his undying interest in the entertainment field increased in strength after returning to the U.S. He studied and appeared at the Guthsville Playhouse (credits of Jack Lemon and other stars) near his hometown as well as other regional theaters throughout the northeast. His efforts began to pay off after scoring acting jobs in New York theaters between menial jobs to pay the bills. Dave credits acting coaches and producers Joel Tellis (Guthsville Playhouse) and Blair Cutting (New York), who were instrumental in preparing him for his work. He is the co-founder of 'Best Little Playhouse in Tampa', a non-profit corporation that existed to provide the Tampa Bay area with professional theatrical productions while donating the proceeds to local children's charities. A move to Los Angeles to pursue his dream as an actor in 2000 resulted in many successes. Dave left Los Angeles several years ago to live in Louisiana near his daughter and 5 grandchildren. He continues to follow his dream as an actor, producer and writer.
