Feride is a young girl who lost her family as a child and was educated in a French school. A fearless climber of trees and an endless source of pranks, Feride's mischievousness earns her the nickname "Çalıkuşu" (Wren). The sudden discovery of betrayal causes her to defy all social expectations. She runs away on her own to teach in the Anatolian backcountry. But it is not so easy to escape a broken heart.

The time is 1945-46. 10 year old Eda and his friend Tonda live in a small village outside Prague. In school, their class is so wild and indisciplined that their teacher quits and is replaced by the militant Igor Hnidzo. He is very strict – but also very fair. His weakness though, is his interest in young women.

Their paths begin to cross when a development corporation comes to town with plans to raze Julia's historic Gospel Hill.

It is a bitter story about a middle-aged man, who hates his life and other people, including himself. Adam Miauczynski, the character known from director Marek Koterski's previous films, is a 49 year-old teacher, who reads poetry during school lessons and later goes home swearing and calling his neighbours' names. The worst pain for him is the next 5 minutes of living. He doesn't accept himself and even everyday contacts with others cause his aggression. Though constantly dreaming of a romantic love, he is not bold enough to make his dreams come true. The desperate Miauczynski personalizes our own fears and obsessions, which have become so visible recently.
