The Afterlife

Inspired by the works of Jonas Mekas, Chantal Akerman and Angela Schanelec, Ive made what is my longest film diary so far. One that spans my two week vacation out to the New England region of North America. What i have here is another cerebral experience into a world that is so closely far away.

Thumbsucker - Behind the Scenes

A portrait film about a Kentucky drag queen who ran his own club on Main Street in downtown Lexington, Kentucky.

A young man decides to join the army. He becomes the drummer in the military band, and his everyday life is now a combination of military training and music. What does the Argentine Army do these days, more than thirty years after the dictatorship? What does it mean to be a soldier in a country without wars?

Living with Giants delves into the imaginative world of Paulusie Kasudluak, a young Inuk facing responsibilities as he transitions into adulthood. The film portrays his thoughts, his dreams, and his beliefs, and allows for an intimate immersion into his life. Paulusie is a caring son to his ailing father and a good boyfriend. But what begins as the story of an innocent teenager quickly becomes the struggle of a young man coping with the guilt of having made a huge mistake. Tragically, Paulusie takes the most dramatic decision and takes his own life. Living with Giants remains a poetic journey of resilience that echoes issues that are far greater than Paulusie's personal story.

The innovative and influential British filmmaker Derek Jarman was invited to direct the Pet Shop Boys' 1989 tour. This film is a series of iconoclastic images he created for the background projections. Stunning, specially shot sequences (featuring actors, the Pet Shop Boys, and friends of Jarman) contrast with documentary montages of nature, all skillfully edited to music tracks.

This visceral cinematic snapshot is an inventive commentary on the pleasures and dangers of wielding a camera. Using different video and film formats, the director tries to record life as it is, unpredictable and at times dangerous.

yaya/ayat explores identities, being lost in translation and distance. This is an experimental documentary about how being a part of any diaspora shapes a person's identity.
