In the depths of a dense winter forest, an old little witch lives. The animals in the forest like her, because she has never caused anyone suffering. But she has a small mistake: sometimes greed overcomes her - so also on a Christmas evening. She wants more gifts than she deserves, so Santa decides not to give her a gift at all this year. The witch chases after Santa's balloon to tear him a gift. But she does not succeed, instead her witch broom breaks during the wild hunt. Sadly, the witch sneaks home. Unhappy and lonely, she sits in her gloomy witch apartment and is ashamed of her greedy behavior. Suddenly Santa is standing in front of her. He is not evil, but gives her a new witch broom and a red witch cat. So it happens that Hex' and Santa celebrate Christmas together and make music deep into the night.

Jessica, the daughter of an impoverished apple farmer, still believes in Santa Claus. So when she comes across a reindeer with an injured leg, it makes perfect sense to her to assume that it is Prancer, who had fallen from a Christmas display in town. She hides the reindeer in her barn and feeds it cookies, until she can return it to Santa. Her father finds the reindeer and decides to sell it to the butcher, not for venison chops, but as an advertising display.

Wayne gets a new rookie partner, Lanny, after his previous partner got the promotion he wanted. Lanny has to remind Wayne of the Spirit of Christmas and the importance of being an elf in Santa's Prep and Landing elite unit.

Baby Santa's Music Box, the stimulation is similar, yet the learning is not quite so intentional--a relief for those of us a bit intimidated with the Russian, Japanese, and French introduced in the original film. No human words are spoken here. Rather, the sights and sounds of Christmas are presented in a visual feast of whimsical, happy scenes accompanied by seasonal music. From sledding and snowmen to glowing candles and shimmering ornaments, dozens of animated and live-action settings communicate the beauty and wonder of the holiday season. Penguin puppets unwrap presents, ring bells, and toss tinsel. Santa's sleigh in a gentle snowfall segues smoothly into a playful group of Christmas-clad youngsters dancing to Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker."

It's the night before Hogswatch, usually a time of joy on Discworld, but there are suspicious going-on and the criminal underworld is abuzz.
