Sean Connery

Biography

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer who won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. Kay Kendall

From Wikipedia Kay Kendall (21 May 1927 – 6 September 1959) was an English actress. Kendall began her film career in the musical film London Town (1946). Though the film was a financial failure, Kendall continued to work regularly until her appearance in the comedy film Genevieve (1953) brought her widespread recognition. Most prolific in British films, Kendall also achieved some popularity with American audiences, and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her role in the musical-comedy film Les Girls (1957). She began a romantic relationship with actor Rex Harrison after they appeared together in the comedy film The Constant Husband (1955), and they were married in 1957. Harrison learned from Kendall's doctor that she had been diagnosed with myeloid leukaemia, a fact that was kept from Kendall, who believed she was suffering from an iron deficiency. The actor cared for Kendall until her death at age 32.

Jacques Robert

Biography

Jacques Robert (June 27, 1921 – August 11, 1997) was a French author, screenwriter and journalist. Jacques Robert was born on 27 June 1921 in Lyon, France. He started his writing career as a journalist. In May 1945 Jacques Robert was the only Western journalist to descend into Hitler's bunker in Berlin, Germany. During his career he wrote more than 40 books and novels. Around 20 of his novels have been adapted for cinema, notably The Long Teeth directed by Daniel Gélin, Marie-Octobre directed by Julien Duvivier and Someone Behind the Door with Charles Bronson and Anthony Perkins. Jacques Robert was also a prolific screenwriter for film and television. He died in Rouen in 1997 at the age of 76. Jonathan Daniel "Jon" Hamm (born March 10, 1971) is an American actor who works primarily in television. For much of the mid-1990s, Hamm lived in Los Angeles as a struggling actor appearing in small parts in multiple television series, including Providence, The Division, What About Brian and Related. In 2000 he made his feature film debut in Clint Eastwood's space adventure, Space Cowboys. The following year, Hamm appeared in the independent comedy, Kissing Jessica Stein (2001) in a minor role. Hamm gained global recognition for playing advertising executive Don Draper in the AMC drama series Mad Men, which premiered in July 2007. Hamm's performance earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2008. Aside from his work on Mad Men, Hamm appeared in the 2008 science fiction remake, The Day the Earth Stood Still and claimed his first leading film role in the independent thriller Stolen (2010). Renata Pinheiro began her career as a contemporary artist. Sponsored by a British Council grant, was resident artist at the John Moores University - UK. Participated in several exhibitions of contemporary art and video art in Brazil and abroad. In 2002, she studied at the INA Formation (Institut National de l'Audiovisuel) in Paris, FR. SuperBarroco, her first short film, had its world premier at the Directors’Fortnight , Cannes 2009. It has won more than 40 awards including the best short film by The Brasilian Academy of Cinema, best film at 41° Festival de Brasilia 2008, and others. Walt Disney Square (co-direction Sergio Oliveira) had its world premier at the Festival Del Film Locarno 2011, and it has won about 15 awards in different Festivals. Wanderers is her first documentary feature (co-direction Sergio Oliveira) had Brazillian premier at Semana dos Realizadores (2011) where won Best Film. Love, Plastic and Noise is her first fiction feature film.

Veliko Stoianov

Biography

Veliko Stoianov is a worthy emissary of Bulgarian Cinema. His characters are from the Wild West and the Middle Ages, from the seaside and the mountains, from the time of the great Bulgarian Kings and from modern times. He has graduated from National Academy of Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in 1973 and went to work at theatre. This was an excellent experience for the actor. After more than 30 roles in the theatre, since 1980 Veliko Stoianov has become entirely movie actor. He made his début in the cinema as early as he was a student. In 1970 the Italian film of Valentino Orsini 'The Lover Of the Great Bear', starring Julliano Jemma was shooted in Bulgaria. Veliko Stoianov was invited for the part of Bolko-fold. No doubt, the year 1978 was a great one in the artistic development of the actor, mostly because of his participation in Ivan Terziev,s TV serial 'The Hamlet', written by great Bulgarian poet Konstantin Pavlov. This work has not lost its unique importance in the history of Bulgarian TV films even nowadays. Its subject deals with the problem of Stalinist perversities in Bulgarian villages. The film was banned for 11 years and was warmly applauded at the first-night performance, which took place immediately after the fall of the communist regime in Bulgaria. Acted one of the major characters in the serial Veliko Stoianov succeeded to perform a complex, psychologically shaded role - eccentric, calling for sympathy and tragic at the same time. The actor has been appreciated not only for his impressive appearance, but also for his high professionalism. In the film 'The Father Of the Egg' you can see him at 30 meters under water and then at 300 meters in the air, over a helicopter, without the use of a stunt double.

Vincent van Ommen

Biography

Vincent van Ommen is a Dutch film, television and voice actor. He is known for English language films like Life is an Art (2010), Amsterdam Heavy (2011), A Morass (2011), and the TV series You Look Stunning Too (2013) in which he played the role of Richard. Video games he voiced for include Planet Explorers and the Nintendo Switch game HyperParasite. Van Ommen studied drama at a private school for acting in Amsterdam. After completion he did a post-grad, specializing in acting for film and television. He also studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and followed an advanced acting course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. In 2016 Van Ommen voiced for the video games Planet Explorers, Until I Have You and Tales. Planet Explorers sold over 300.000 copies on launch day and was a commercial success. That same year he got nominated for both Tales and Until I Have You at the AGS Awards in the category Best Voice Acting. With this nomination he became the first Dutch actor ever to be nominated for an English voice-over award. In 2017 he voiced both the English as well as the Dutch voice-overs for the video game Moving Stories. Later that year the game was nominated for two Dutch Game Awards. That same year he narrated for Living Aleppo, the documentary was crowned with the prestigious ADCN Award; The Bronze Lamp.

James Traficant

Biography

James Anthony Traficant Jr. was born in Youngstown, Ohio on May 8, 1941. He was sheriff of Mahoning County, Ohio from 1981–85, before serving as the Democrat US Congressman from Ohio, January 3, 1985 to July 24, 2002. On April 12, 2002, Traficant was convicted of taking bribes, filing false tax returns, racketeering, and forcing his aides to perform chores at his Ohio farm and Washington, D.C. houseboat. He was expelled from the House of Representatives on July 24, 2002 and served a seven-year prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institute, Allenwood, Pennsylvania. From within, Traficant ran an unsuccessful campaign for election back to the House. Traficant died in a tractor accident on September 27, 2014, on his Youngstown farm.
