The Nephews of Zorro

The Commandant is making life rough for the colonials in Spanish California. While trying to help, Zorro is charged with the murder of the new Governor, but in the end he triumphs over the evil Commandant.

A newly arrived governor finds his province under the control of the corrupt Colonel Huerta. To avoid assassination by Huerta, he pretends to be weak and indecisive so Huerta will believe he poses no threat. But secretly he masquerades as Zorro, and joins the monk Francisco and the beautiful aristocrat Hortensia in their fight for justice against Huerta and his soldiers.

After fathering a child, Maharaj Bahadur Singh marries and starts a family. One of his sons grows up to usurp him, the other to be Zorro.

A local village is being extorted by the evil Luis Bonsario assisted by the short, rotund Sgt. Felipo Latio who takes advantage of young girls while making wisecracks into the camera. Meanwhile, brave swordsman Don Diego is employed by his father to set things straight. By day he poses as a homosexual, donned in pink attire, while at night he assumes his true identity as the masked Zorro, romancing all the pretty ladies and delivering justice.

Colonel Cordero implements new taxes among the population in Monterrey without the governor's knowledge. Antonio Sandoval, who has returned from his studies to his hometown, becomes aware of the hustle and bustle of the colonel and makes life difficult as a masked Zorro for the tyrannical alcalde at every opportunity and time of day.

It has been twenty years since Don Diego de la Vega fought Spanish oppression in Alta California as the legendary romantic hero, Zorro. Mason, the head of the telegraph line work crew, assumes his ancestor's trade-mark mask (but not whip) in order to prevent a local czar (Roy Barcroft) from sabotaging the burgeoning telegraph line. Pamela Blake, a brunette starlet formerly known as Adele Pearce, played Mason's imperiled girlfriend, and the serial also benefitted from the usual competent work of Republic's great stunt-performers, including Dale van Sickel, Tom Steele, Eddie Parker, and Joe Yrigoyen.

In this film, edited from eight episodes of Disney's hit TV series, Don Diego returns home to find his town under the heel of a cruel dictator, Capitan Monastario. Diego dons the mask of Zorro to fight the evil commandant's tyranny, and, with the help of his mute servant Bernardo, free the pueblo from his oppression.

Don Cesar De Vega crosses swords with a vicious member of the Queen's Guard, and steals the affection of a young heiress. When the officer frames the young upstart for murder, Don Cesar fakes his own death and retreats to the crumbling ruins of the family castle he plots his vengeance.
