Citizens across Europe who used to belong to the lower middle class have fallen into poverty. An in-depth investigation into the precariat, a new social class of financially insecure citizens who, although they are employed, find it very difficult to make ends meet.

Jessica Yeboah, 27, has finished her studies for the day and is getting ready for afterwork. After talking with her classmate, she is reminded of her origins. She gets upset but chooses not to say anything. Inside the restaurant, she meets her classmates. In the middle of the conversation, Jessica once again hears a prejudiced question directed at her that separates her from them.

Mickael's family is struggling (they don't have enough money to pay for hot water) however his life is full with Judo and his girlfriend Venessa. Then Mickael makes a decision to open up his relationship to include Clement his rich-kid Judo partner, starting a chain of events.

Rikos, his beloved and her father, defeated and disappointed because of the expectations that were never fulfilled, will be forced to come to terms with the harsh reality.

As children in the loving Ekdahl family, Fanny and Alexander enjoy a happy life with their parents, who run a theater company.
