To Dust - Nightmares

A short pilot for what would be the first feature-length animated film by Jean Giraud and Medialab, cancelled in 1992 with the death of Alain Guiot.

The imagined perpetrator in a famously unsolved true-crime case, “Who Put Bella Down the Wych Elm”, is confronted about his past by an unearthly Bison in this Stop-Motion animated short film.

In the ocean, there are four magical crystals. The dark corps led by sea monster Limo Ansen tried to get the crystals by all means and dominate the ocean. The deep-sea ranger-led by Xiaoronglong waged fierce battles with them in order to maintain the security of the ocean. In this period, two octopus siblings were involved in the struggles. With the help of Octopus siblings and in reliance on their courage and wisdom, Xiaoronglong and his friends resolved the crises time and time again and eventually defeated the dark forces and maintained the peace of the ocean.

A poetic interlude between a reality and an abstraction, this experimental short was produced by artists from Pixar’s Effects team, working in collaboration to create a startlingly original piece of filmmaking.

We enter in his head and walk with him the intricate maze that was his imagination to find the creatures and stories that populated his psyche and came out when he painted a canvas. His imagination is presented as the myth of the maze and the Minotaur, and some of the characters in the piece are in Picasso's real paintings - his famous dove, the Minotaur, and the ladies of Avignon, among many others.

One evening, the UFO puppy shows the Minion its home in the stars and expresses a longing to return. The Minion, determined to help, sends an email with their picture to the UFO's home planet, triggering a rescue party. Before leaving, the UFO uses its grow-ray to enlarge the ladybug into a puppy-sized companion. The Minion, surrounded by friends, joyfully accepts the new “puppy,” ready for more adventures together.
