This film goes back to its beginning and those who felt called to plant an oasis of Christianity in the North American wilderness. In an imaginative, at times almost surrealistic, way the film recalls the highborn company from France, and shows what survives of Ville-Marie in the Montreal of today.

The Hartings lost their only sighted child Hassan in a tragic drowning accident, and have since turned to the teachings of Russian mystic Grigori Grabovoi, hoping to resurrect their son. Resurrecting Hassan is an exploration of this family's legacy of grief, tragedy and abuse; the film will follow them on their path to redemption.

This feature documentary is a fascinating and spirited portrait of the life and times of the legendary Quebec politician and four-time mayor of Montreal Camillien Houde. Using rare archival footage and interviews with ex-colleagues, aides and friends, the film presents a comprehensive profile of this incredible, and, to some, infamous, man.

Giovanni, Francesco and Salvatore have passed the age of 80 and are proud to still consider themselves communist or socialist comrades. All three left their impoverished villages in southern Italy during the post-war years and, once settled in Montreal, maintained close links with parties of the Italian left, while militating in progressive Canadian unions and parties.

Prestigious guitarist Stanley Jordan is well-known for his exclusive use of the guitar: His 10 fingers run along the neck of the instrument, creating special sound effects similar to those created by a keyboard. This video filmed at the XI Montreal International Jazz Festival presents Jordan's spectacular guitar solos, confirming his immense talent (as if any confirmation were necessary!).

Qallunajatut (Urban Inuk) follows the lives of three Inuit in Montreal over the course of one hot and humid summer.Only two generations ago Inuit lived in small, nomadic hunting camps scattered across the vast Arctic landscape. Since the 1950s, this traditional lifestyle has undergone an astonishing transition from Stone Age to Information Age, as Inuit first relocated (often by force) to government-run settlements, and, more recently, beyond the settlement into southern cities.
