A mother's quest to find her missing son leads her to the gates of Mictlán, a mystical place where souls parade to their final destination.

County Durham, England, 1984. The miners' strike has started and the police have started coming up from Bethnal Green, starting a class war with the lower classes suffering. Renowned oceanographer Steve Zissou has sworn vengeance upon the rare shark that devoured a member of his crew.
